Officially our most successful month EVER!
We had an extra 2 vets working on Samui - adding an extra 8-15 animals per week.
Animalia Pet Hospital did 19 cats from the Muslim Village.
Dr Kritan & his team at ลิปะน้อยรักษาสัตว์ Lipanoianimalclinic just keep working though – no matter how many animals we rock up with in the morning – they just sterilize them all for us.
Our Bali project ran a community sterilization day.
We are all exhausted – but really proud of our work.
We desperately need a dedicated sterilization clinic on Samui, with the staff to handle the workload of 10-20 animals per day - help us make this a reality by signing up to be a regular donor:

Kathie Vaughn was heading to Atlanta for an antiques show when her car caught on fire. Kathie is paralyzed from the waist down, so evacuating the vehicle quickly and easily wasn't an option. She began trying to assemble her wheelchair, but the smoke made her disoriented. Luckily, her dog, Eve, was still sharp and totally fearless, so she dragged her owner out of the vehicle and into a nearby ditch. Soon the entire vehicle went up in flames. Eve's heroism might be 100% stunning to the rest of us, but it didn't surprise her owner: "She just loves me. She helps me all the time."

Maya the Pitbull Mix
I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!
Angela Marcelino rescued Maya from the Humane Society — a few years later, Maya returned the favor. Angela was entering her home one night when an attacker shoved her inside her house. The man grabbed her by the throat and slammed the door. Her struggle got Maya's attention, and the dog attacked the assailant, giving Angela enough time to hit the man's groin. He released Angela and fled. This wasn't the end though: Some of his blood was left on Maya's face, so the authorities were able to arrest the attacker.

Patricia Drauch was in her garden when suddenly she realized her 14-month-old son, Stanley, had disappeared. She searched everywhere and finally found him: He was face up in the pool with his eyes rolled back and his lips blue. But luckily, Stanley wasn't alone in the pool.

The family dog, Bear, was with him and was standing perfectly still underneath the boy in order to keep the boy's head above water. Authorities later confirmed that Stanley had almost drowned and likely owes Bear his life.

A for Scottie: Paralympic bronze medallist, because the only thing keeping him from gold is his easily distracted mind when anyone new passes the shelter. Being the go-getter that he is, Scottie has trained hard and now has an upper body bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He plays rough with all the other young ones, and when he’s tired he snuggles up for a good cuddle. He has an unbreakable spirit and soft heart and an adorable face to match.

B for Gujiya: A beautiful dog, exceptionally sweet and full of life! Her charming personality always wins over our new rescues.

C for Wrinkle: An old, sweet ,and gentle boy who loves attention. He waits at the front gate for the staff to come and greet him and howls if he is ignored. Although he is not able to walk properly, he is always on the move looking for someone to cuddle him.

Introducing Dharamsala Animal Rescue, this charity is very close to my heart. When I was having a non-midlife/midlife crisis, I went to live in India and Nepal for a bit. India had never been on my radar, me a non-diagnosed hypochondriac. I was petrified of ever going to Asia and especially India. Often people would say was I doing Eat Prey Love? I must admit I had never watched the movie or read the book until a friend sat me down to watch it, but no my travels weren't inspired by Eat Prey Love. My final destination in India was Kolkata, prior to going there I wanted to acclimatise, so I was looking for a place that:
1. Weather was Cool
2. They had yoga (duh of course India had Yoga)
So with Google that's how I landed in Dharamsala. As I caught a taxi to my hotel, Dharamsala Animal Van came past and I remember thinking a place with a cool van like that must be OK.
While I went about doing my Yoga and meeting some amazing people and often feeling like I was on a set of Jesus Christ, Movie Star, never had I seen so much cheese cloth, long beards and long hair as I did while living in Dharamsala. But what else I saw was the street dogs and this affected me so that I knew I wanted to give back and that is how I came about volunteering at Dharamsala Animal Rescue.

While I was there, seeing the passion and compassion from the staff trying everything to help save an animal and alleviate suffering, and they didn’t just help dogs, they also helped other animals and a crazy Australian who became attached to an old dog called Johnny and who started crying one night because she thought he had died as he didn’t come home on time. Only to find him with the other dogs the next morning. Johnny has since passed due to old age😥. Volunteering here was truly one of the most humbling experiences of my life. On the morning of St. Patrick's Day, Peanut's owner said that her rescue dog started acting a bit crazy. After running around and barking all over the house, the owner finally let Peanut outside. The dog forcefully led her owner through the field behind their house to a three-year-old girl, who was naked and shivering in a ditch.

Peanut's owner wrapped the young girl in a sweatshirt and called the authorities. Peanut was sadly no stranger to suffering. When she was rescued, she was in bad shape: She had broken ribs, two broken legs, and a belly full of carpet. Perhaps that's what made her so attuned to the pain of the little girl.
