OUR CHARTER IS:
*To act as a contact and liaison point between people who want to rehome their animals and people who wish to adopt them.
*To facilitate the provision of care and accommodation to genuinely homeless animals, by providing enriching foster homes when available, whilst finding them suitable permanent homes.
*To provide veterinary care for homeless animals, prior to placement in a suit

able permanent home. All animals are desexed prior to rehoming, to curb the exponential growth of unwanted animals in Victoria. When necessary, smaller vet expenses such as desexing and vaccinations are covered by the new owner, but larger vet fees are paid for via fundraising.
*To provide ongoing support and advice to those adopting through our service, as well as training and nutritional help, for the life of their pet.

Winston is a 5 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 11kg male French Bulldog, who’s looking for a loving home.
He’s a very affectionate, cuddly and cheeky boy who loves human company. He’d suit an all adult home or one with dog savvy teenagers. Someone who’s home during the day would be great, given that’s what he’s been used to.
Winston would suit a home with a friendly but assertive female dog. Ideally one larger than his 11kg frame. (He’s been known to fight over food with a smaller, submissive male dog.) He’s not been tested with cats.
He loves his daily walks and walks well on lead. He also enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. A home with a dog door would be great.
Winston’s adoption fee is $950

Happy Adoption Tale!
Nova the American Staffy has found a loving home with Kay and Edgar, whose previous Staffy passed away leaving the couple devastated. When they saw Nova’s ad they couldn’t believe how much she looked like their previous boy.
At their meet and greet it was love at first site. Their trial period confirmed it was a great match.
Kay wrote ‘Having recently lost a much loved American Staffy we approached The Animal Rehoming Service. We were able to adopt a mature female of the same breed called Nova who has settled in really well, receiving lots of love and attention.
I was really impressed with how the Service went above and beyond to ensure all parties were completely satisfied and happy with the transition. So many thanks to Michaela and team.’
Thanks for that Kay and Edgar and for giving lucky Nova such a loving home! 🐶😊

Got a dirty paws problem in the house?
Non slip mud mats are the answer. Just make sure it’s long enough to clean all four paws as they run in. (Costco ones tend to be longer). Also at Bunnings.

Readvertised: I’m still looking for a loving home!
Rocky is a 2 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 38kg male American Staffordshire Terrier who’s looking for a loving home.
He loves people and is a very affectionate, friendly and often placid boy, who would love to be a cherished member of the family. He gets quite excited when you return home or visitors come over, so he’ll try to jump up for a sneaky kiss, but he’s a smart boy and keen to please, so will stop when you tell him to. Given his size, an all-adult home or one with dog-savvy teenagers, would suit.
Rocky’s quite an active boy, so an active family happy to at least walk him daily would suit. (He’s good on walks and uses a Sporn harness). He’s also quite a relaxed and contented boy, who’ll happily laze in the sun, lie on the couch or doze at your feet 😊
He’s not been tested with cats, but he loves playing with other dogs so would really enjoy a home with another compatible dog for company. When at the park, if another dog shows any kind of aggression, he’ll use his strong bark to tell them to stop, but he’s never been aggressive.
He enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Rocky’s adoption fee is $400

Sonny is a 9 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 9kg male Dachshund, who’s looking for a loving home.
He’s a very loving and sweet-natured boy who would suit a calm, all adult home or one with gentle, dog savvy teenagers. He loves his daily walks and is also good on lead.
Sonny’s great with other dogs, especially friendly, gentle ones like himself. He would love a home with another sweet-natured dog for company. Otherwise someone working from home or a retired but still active person would suit. (He’s not been tested with cats).
He had a thorough teeth clean in late 2022.
Sonny enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. Given his breed, a single level home with minimal steps would be best.
Sonny’s adoption fee is $650

# Update: Thanks for your many applications. Bunny’s been very popular.
We’re currently getting back to those who have applied for her and will update her situation on here. Thanks for your patience.

Bunny is an 8 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 9kg female Cocker Spaniel x Miniature Poodle, who’s looking for a loving home.
She’s an extremely loving, gentle and sweet-natured little girl who’s had basic training and is eager to please. Bunny adores the beach, going on her daily walks, snuggles and being around her favourite people. She’d suit an all adult home or one with dog savvy, gentle, older children.
Bunny loves playing with other oodles, but is also fine with other breeds if they’re gentle and playful. A home with a friendly desexed male dog would be great. She’s not been tested with cats.
She has a sensitive stomach so easily digestible food like chicken is best for Bunny.
She enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. Bunny would require regular grooming. She’s also recently had her teeth cleaned.
Bunny’s adoption fee is $750

Happy Adoption Tale!
We received this from Kylie and Matt after their successful trial of handsome boy Abe the German Shepherd. He couldn’t have found a better home. We knew Kylie and Matt would care for Abe with the same passion that they cared for their previous shepherd Sarge. He had degenerative myelopathy, an awful disease which affects the rear legs. Kylie and Matt did everything they could to ensure Sarge had the best quality of life he could for as long as he could.
‘After losing my 14 year old shepherd Sarge recently, and having sworn off having another dog - I couldn’t help but need to hear the sound of the pitter patter of tiny paws again. It was love at first sight when I spotted Abe on the TARS page. I immediately applied.
I am delighted to say that it has been an absolute joy welcoming the beautiful Abe into our home! As heartbroken I am for his owner to have to rehome this stunning and truly sweet boy, I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to give him all the love and adventures that I can.
As you can see, Abe has settled in quite easily and happily!
None of this would have been possible without the invaluable assistance and advice offered by the TARS team with special thanks to Michaela.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.’
Thank you Kylie and Matt. It’s wonderful to see Abe so happy and loved. 🥰🐶

Gary is a 4 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 27kg male Kelpie x who’s looking for a loving home.
He’s an active and smart boy with a very loving and loyal nature. He would suit an active family happy to exercise him at least once daily (he loves running, playing and spending time outdoors. He also has great recall which is a bonus).
An experienced all adult home or one with dog savvy teenagers would suit. He’s not very trusting of younger children and also protective of his food. (He’s fed separately outdoors to avoid any issues and needs to be left alone to eat).
Gary gets along well with other dogs, though his play style can be a bit rough at times (with a bit of a growl here and there). A home with another friendly, active dog would be ideal. He’s not been tested with cats.
A large outer suburban block, semi-rural or rural setting, with plenty of space for him to run and explore, would suit him perfectly.
Gary’s recently had his teeth cleaned and had a benign fatty lump removed from his leg.
He enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Gary’s adoption fee is $450
