OUR CHARTER IS:
*To act as a contact and liaison point between people who want to rehome their animals and people who wish to adopt them.
*To facilitate the provision of care and accommodation to genuinely homeless animals, by providing enriching foster homes when available, whilst finding them suitable permanent homes.
*To provide veterinary care for homeless animals, prior to placement in a suit

able permanent home. All animals are desexed prior to rehoming, to curb the exponential growth of unwanted animals in Victoria. When necessary, smaller vet expenses such as desexing and vaccinations are covered by the new owner, but larger vet fees are paid for via fundraising.
*To provide ongoing support and advice to those adopting through our service, as well as training and nutritional help, for the life of their pet.

A Tribute to Oscar.
We received sad news from Kim and her family, that their beloved Spoodle Oscar had sadly passed away earlier this year, at the age of 14.
‘In 2016 we adopted our sweet Oscar. He’d been rehomed a few times before finding his forever home with us, this time through TARS. He was an anxious pup who had been treated poorly. Despite his past, he settled in with our family and his new doggy brother Alfie the Spoodle, so well (also adopted through TARS). Oscar became the most patient and trustworthy boy.
Oscar loved company and felt most secure sleeping peacefully next to us, content just knowing he was in our presence. He loved walks on the beach, cooling off in the ocean on a warm day, and lounging in the sun. While we helped provide him with a loving home which soothed his anxiety, one look into his big beautiful eyes would comfort us all, on even our worst days.
He unfortunately passed away, but has left a forever mark in our hearts and is sorely missed.’
Thank you Kim and family for giving lucky Oscar nine wonderful years. He thoroughly deserved it. ❤️

Benson is a 6 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 17kg male Australian Bulldog x English Staffy, who’s looking for a loving home.
Despite a rough start in life, Benson’s a very loving, loyal and playful boy who’d suit an experienced and active family. Someone with bulldog or similar experience, would be a bonus. A family able to exercise him daily, but also give him the love and security he missed out on in his early years, would be just what he needs.
Benson would thrive in an all adult home or one with dog savvy, older children. A family with another friendly and playful dog for company would also be great. He’s fine with most dogs, but will sometimes take a while to warm to some dominant ones. He’s not been tested with cats.
Benson enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Benson’s adoption fee is $850

Bailey (a 14kg, lilac fawn coloured 5 year old) and Charlie (the 14.5kg, white cream coloured 6 year old) are desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped male French Bulldogs who are looking for a loving home together. Charlie is the more dominant one and Bailey is the mischievous one.
Both are very loving, playful and active little boys who love cuddling up to each other and their humans, as well as going on their daily walks. They would suit an experienced and active family, happy to include them in their daily lives.
Bailey and Charlie would suit an-all adult home or one with older, dog savvy children. They’re not good with cats or other small animals and can carry on sometimes when on lead, but are fine once they’re off lead, for example at the park. In fact they love spending time at the local park with other dogs and they usually have good recall.
Charlie has sensitive skin and gut, so he’s kept on a gluten free kibble diet, which has been very effective at avoiding skin rashes etc. Neither dog has breathing issues.
Bailey and Charlie enjoy an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. A home with indoor access during the day would be a bonus.
Bailey and Charlie’s combined adoption fee is $1900

Happy Adoption Tale!
We received this from Jackie, who adopted Sonny the Dachshund, through TARS last month.
‘It’s still less than three weeks since Sonny arrived, but he’s taken over both house and garden and seems very much at home.
I’ve only ever had large dogs before, ranging from golden retrievers and an Old English sheep dog to a great Dane and St Bernard. So tiny sausage dog Sonny, has been a surprise to me in every way.
He loves to sit on my lap and cuddle up. If there’s a snuggly rug around, he burrows underneath it. It’s amazing he can still breathe under there, but he manages to.
When I walk him and he sees certain large dogs, despite being small and they being many times bigger than he is, he likes to use his loud bark. 😵‍💫 Thankfully he gets on well with Cher my neighbour’s dog and with our daughter’s dog Obi, who’s the very large wire-haired boy in the photo.
He’s been a huge hit at the dementia unit where my husband lives these days. He (Sonny, that is!) especially loves lunch times over there, cleaning up all the dropped food underneath the tables etc. Even the grumpiest residents brighten up when they see little Sonny. He’s becoming quite a fixture there!’
Thanks Jackie for the lovely update and for giving Sonny such a great new home! 🐶😊

Millie is an 11 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 25kg female Bull Arab x Staffordshire Terrier who’s looking for a loving home, due to the death of her owner. Millie was adopted at four months of age and after all this time together, she certainly feels her owner’s loss.
She’s a very gentle and sweet-natured girl who’d love to be a cherished member of her new family. Millie thinks she’s a lapdog and would thrive in a relaxed home where there were lots of cuddles on offer. She’d suit a calm, all-adult home or one with gentle, dog savvy teenagers. As mentioned, she likes peace and quiet and can also get startled by sudden, loud noises.
She loves her daily walk and enjoys playing with other dogs at the dog park. When she’s decided she’s tired, she’ll go home and sleep for the rest of the day.😊 A home with a compatible, desexed male dog for company would be great. She’s not been tested with cats.
Millie enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. A home with indoor access during the day would be a bonus.
Millie’s adoption fee is $350

Readvertised; I’m still looking for a loving home!
Gary is a 5 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 27kg male Kelpie x, who’s looking for a loving home.
He’s a smart and active boy with a very loving and loyal nature. He would suit an active family happy to exercise him daily. He loves running, playing and spending time outdoors. He also has great recall which is a bonus.
An experienced all-adult home or one with dog-savvy teenagers would suit as he’s not very trusting of young children. He’s also protective of food so he’s fed separately outdoors.
Gary gets along well with other dogs. A home with another friendly, active dog for company would be ideal. Otherwise someone who’s working from home or an active, newly retired person would suit. He's not been tested with cats.
Gary’s recently had his teeth cleaned and a benign fatty lump removed from his leg.
He enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Gary’s adoption fee is $400

Readvertised: I’m still looking for a loving home!
Millie is a 5 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 44kg female American Bulldog who’s looking for a loving home.
She’s a very affectionate, sensitive and loyal girl who would love being a cherished member of the family. She’d suit an all-adult home or one with gentle, dog-savvy teenagers.
Millie’s great with other dogs but as with many dogs, she doesn’t like being rushed at. (She’s walked mainly on lead or let off at the dog park when there’s not many dogs around, as she had a cruciate ligament operation over a year ago.) She enjoys her daily walks but will pull on lead if she’s rushed at, especially from behind. This Leash Wrap method works wonders in stopping that. https://youtu.be/E_oJojyaHr4
A home with a desexed male dog would be ideal. She’s not been tested with cats.
Millie’s sensitive stomach is helped greatly by a chicken and rice formulation dog foods, plus the occasional chicken treat.
She had some incontinence issues in the past, but these have been resolved with some Propalin liquid taken twice daily.
She enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Millie’s adoption fee is $400

Millie is a 4 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 26.5kg female Blue and White American Staffordshire Terrier, who’s looking for a loving home.
She’s a very affectionate, calm and playful girl who loves human company and would suit being an integral part of the household, with an experienced family. She’d also suit an all-adult home or one with dog-savvy teenagers.
Millie’s great with other dogs, but doesn’t like dogs charging or lunging at her, especially French Bulldogs and Labradors for some reason. Presumably something happened to her in the past. She’s a regular at the off leash park and has also lived happily with a poodle x (refer photo). She’d love a home with another dog for company. Otherwise a home with someone home during the day would also suit. Millie doesn’t have separation anxiety, but she’d enjoy the company regardless.
She enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors.
Millie’s adoption fee is $450

Happy Adoption Tale!
Rocky, the near 40kg American Staffordshire Terrier, could easily have fallen into the wrong hands or ended up at a high kill pound, especially as we had no room for him in foster care. But thankfully his caring previous owner had the patience to hold onto him until a great new family was found, namely Tiana and her parents Paula and Paul. Tiana wrote this lovely piece about his recent adoption.
‘After losing our 12 year old Blue American Staffy Sarge in 2023, we felt as though a part of our home had lost some light. Getting another pet wasn’t in mind but after seeing Rocky advertised on TARS we adored him right away.
It’s been around 2 weeks since having Rocky and our home has never felt so much love, we truly forgot how comforting it is to come home to a huge walking brick running at our legs the moment we walk in.
Rocky settled in with us almost instantly showing so much affection, following us around the house any chance he gets, always curious to see what we’re all up to. Rocky is the friendliest boy ever and loves the attention from strangers, demanding chest rubs any chance taken. While Rocky is definitely a clingy boy having zero sense of personal space at all, he enjoys lying in the sun, playing with his toys and exploring new environments inside and outside of our home.
We were very impressed by the communication on behalf of The Animal Rehoming Service, going above and beyond ensuring all parties were happy. We give a huge thank you to Michaela and the rest of the team !!’
Thanks so much, Tiana, Paula and Paul. Handsome Rocky’s such a lucky boy! 🐶 😊

# Update: Minnie has a great new home!
Minnie is a 7 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 13kg female Jack Russell Terrier x Whippet, who’s looking for a loving home. (He’s more beige than the ginger colour in the photos).
She’s a very loving, cuddly and sweet-natured girl who’d love to be a treasured member of the family, in a calm all-adult home or one with gentle dog-savvy, older children. She enjoys her daily walks, time at the park and strolling along the beach. In fact a home near the beach would be great.
A family with a desexed male dog for company would also be great as she enjoys spending time with other dogs. Minnie tends to be shy around new, bigger dogs and a little bit bossy with dogs smaller than herself, though it’s mainly when she’s on lead. She’s great at the off leash park and has good recall. She’s happily lived with a cat as well.
Minnie enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. She’ll happily sleep on your bed too, if you let her. 😊

# Update: I’ve found a loving home!
Winston is a 5 year old, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped 11kg male French Bulldog, who’s looking for a loving home.
He’s a very affectionate, cuddly and cheeky boy who loves human company. He’d suit an all adult home or one with dog savvy teenagers. Someone who’s home during the day would be great, given that’s what he’s been used to.
Winston would suit a home with a friendly but assertive female dog. Ideally one larger than his 11kg frame. (He’s been known to fight over food with a smaller, submissive male dog.) He’s not been tested with cats.
He loves his daily walks and walks well on lead. He also enjoys an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle, sleeping indoors. A home with a dog door would be great.
Winston’s adoption fee is $950
