It is with much sadness I announce the closure of Mouseback Mousery and the cessation of my breeding lines.
I was hoping to have a few more good years of breeding, but unfortunately, just after going on my break in December, one of my parents was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer.

I have always prioritized the health of my mice, and tried to operate to the highest ethical standard possible. This has been increasingly difficult the past few years with work, uni, and this hot summer, but we have always managed, albeit I've been spread a bit thin.
With my parent's diagnosis, I can no longer operate at the highest level, and I cannot stretch myself any thinner than I already am, so I have made the sad decision to move my mice and my lines elsewhere and concentrate on my family and myself for now.

This has not been an easy decision, and I have definitely considered staying on and trying to manage, but its unfortunately no longer workable around chemotherapy appointments.

The vast majority of my breeding mice have already been moved on, and I have kept my favourites for myself as pets.

Thank you immensely to all those who have supported me over the past 5 1/2 years. It's been a dream. I am so proud of the incredible mice I've produced, the awards I've won, and the people I've met along the way. Thank you so much

We will be taking a much-needed break from messages from the 20th of December to the 1st of February 2024.

During this time, new inquiries for mice adoptions will not be answered, and we will have no mice available during this time.
Existing adopters who have mice from us and have a question will still be replied to.
New mice will be available in February, and a post with the available mice will be put up after the 1st.

Please see the photos for information on all mice, a variety of ages available at present. If you are interested in reserving mice, please message and ensure you have filled out an adoption form.
Reserved mice will require a $5 per mouse deposit within 48 hours to reserve them til they are able to be picked up, this will be taken off the purchase price on pickup (all mice are $20 each).

These will be the last mice available this year, until the start of 2024. Once all rehomed I will be opening the waiting list for next year.

PLEASE READ:
A couple friendly reminders from your local mouse breeder :)

Over the last couple years I have experienced an increased level of rude, inconsiderate, and demanding messages from potential adopters.

This behaviour will not tolerated, and will result in you being blacklisted from receiving mice from me.

The mousery is a passion project of mine, I am incredibly passionate about it, but it just a hobby and not my job. I do not make a profit from mouse breeding.
On top of managing the mousery I work three long days a week in an intense and demanding job. I am also currently studying part time at university.

Ethical care, housing, documentation, and enrichment are always my priority when it comes to the mousery, which means around work, uni, and the mousery, my ability to respond to messages in a timely manner may not always be as quick as people would like. I understand this, and am currently trying my best to keep on top of messages, but during busy periods I may take longer to respond.

Spamming my messages with emojis, autoreplies, multiple different accounts, demanding replies at unreasonable hours, demanding mice in an unrealistic time frame, spamming me with several adoption forms, or finding ways around messaging me through this page and contacting me elsewhere is the quickest way to end up not receiving mice, not the other way around.
I reserve the right at any time to deny an adoption for any reason.

I know it can be frustrating not receiving a reply, and rest assured I do receive your messages and am doing my best, you are not missing out on mice if I haven’t got to you.

Going forward, once mice are available and I have gone through the waiting list, I will be posting them on my page. If there are no mice posted on my page, there are no mice available and my autoreply will reflect this and the waiting list will open up for the next lot of litters.

I will also be implementing a $5 reservation fee per mouse. Once you have chosen mice you will have 48 hours to transfer this to keep your mice reserved until you are able to come and collect them. This fee will come off the adoption cost, and i’m hoping will reduce the amount of no-shows, and ensure potential adopters are serious and don’t ruin it for everyone else.

More mice will be posted Friday night, 7pm AEST 🙂 I will chase up all messages by then.
