Happy New Year! 🥳
The holidays are over and it’s back to work!

This cute bundle is the first painting of 2024, fresh off the easel and on the way to his new home.

Oil paintings take a while, I look at them and study my subjects for a long time. When finally they are ready to leave the studio for their homes I feel a bit like losing a friend (strange but true!). I do miss them.
And then… on the the next one! 😺

🏆🏆 Congratulations to Oli “the First Feline to finish in the 2023 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race” and winner of the Two-Handed Four Pawed Division.
That was no mean feet!

Oli is an experienced sailor, having spent several years at sea with Bob, including a trip to New Zealand. He’s an old paw.. you could say!

It was a long race for the small yacht built in 1960 (just under 9 days), but Oli, an integral part the crew, carefully supervised the team to ensure they always remained calm and kept up the team spirit.

We are so proud of “Team Sylph VI”
(Oli, Bob Williams and Chris Warren). Well done!😻

Congratulations to Oli, Bob Chris!
A long sail from Sydney to Hobart on the beautiful old yacht Sylph VI.
Oli seems to have reached International fame, following in the footsteps of Matthew Flinders cat, Trim.
We salute you!😻

An emotional Bob Williams greets the fanfare in Hobart with his cat Oli as their yacht, the last in the fleet, brings the Sydney to Hobart race to a close.

Progress. This one is almost finished!

It’s too late now for Christmas but these make great gifts for any pet lover who has everything.
So… when you are next stumped for a gift idea think of me!!!😻😻🎄🎁💝

My standard size is 25x25 but sometimes the proportion is changed to suit the pet. Same price if it’s roughly the same size.

This cute little pooch came back from framing yesterday and went off to his new home today!

This is the second paint for this client, which makes me so very proud! I’m so happy people return, sometimes even after many years! Made my weekend!
The only thing… silly me forgot to take a picture before he was framed so there are a few reflections here.

This is very very sad news.

We are absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of our beloved crazy cat lady and Cat Protection Society Ambassador Cal Wilson.

Cal so generously donated her time to help promote the work of our Society with a shared passion for advocating just how amazing cats are as companion animals.

We were fortunate enough to have Cal visit our Adoption Shelter on multiple occasions and help her add to her feline clan with the adoption of kitten Kipper in February this year.

She was a beautiful, passionate and generous person and the Victorian Cat Loving Community and our Society was better for her involvement and support.

Our thoughts are with Cal’s beautiful family and felines Barnacle, Pirate & Kipper. Vale Cal Wilson.

“I’m so excited to be an ambassador for The Cat Protection Victoria, especially now I’ve sampled their merchandise (Welcome home, Kipper). There are so many cats that deserve a loving home, and so many homes that deserve a loving companion that will demand pats, and possibly ham.

While I’m absolutely not allowed to bring home another cat, I am absolutely allowed to convince other people to bring home a cat, a role which I will be flinging myself into, wholeheartedly.

Cats are hilarious weirdos, full of unconditional love and strong opinions about whether it’s your bed or theirs. There’s nothing more soothing than a cat’s purr, and nothing more gratifying than one running to greet you when you come from work.

Also, there’s The Law of the Cat which means you legally can’t be asked to do something if there’s a cat sitting on you. Now we’ve got three, I never have to do ANYTHING”

Done! Framed, signed & delivered to a happy client!
This cute Spoodle was a special birthday gift.

One down, one to go, watercolour that is. Then one oil (I think) before the year is out.
That’s it for 2023 for me, I’m taking a whole 2 months off (Nov/Dec)!!!🥳🥳 but I’ll be taking more commissions in 2024.

Henry Behrens, the smallest man in the world dances with his pet cat in the doorway of his Worthing home, 1956
In the late forties and mid-fifties, Henry Behrens (born about 1895) was touted as the world’s smallest man. The little person was 30 inches (0.81 meters) tall and weighed 32 pounds (14.5 kg). Thus he had the privilege to have his cat as his dance partner!😻
