Apache did amazingly well at his last tricks trial, scoring 77.5/80 and 79.8/80, with very little practice! He is such a natural and keen worker! So fortunate to have the opportunity to compete with him! Well done Pachee!

Summit had fun at a tricks workshop yesterday...the very start of our left leg wrap 🦵🐾 ❤️
Wishing Tilly a super pawsome happy birthday! This little girl turns 2 today! A great little worker, Miss Tilly's conscientious but also happy go lucky personality is always catching, and puts a big smile on my face every time we train! Happy birthday Tilly girl!
3 shots and we finally got there! Summit and his gf Miss Tilly, trying their hardest to sync their eyes. 😁
Summit was invited into Good Guys today, complete with shtuck lip! 😂 He was a well-behaved shopper...and made himself at home.
Queen B practising for future flights as a mindDog, by getting accustomed to the sounds of airplanes. She was remarkably calm and confident! Way to go Queenie.
Summit saw his first koala yesterday! .
Not so small anymore puppy Summit at the Jan agility seminar a while back! His first seminar with an international instructor. Great fun was had by all, particularly by the lil' man Summit! ❤️
A belated post but a must mention - little Tilly got her starters trick title the other week, passing with flying colours (59.8/60 2nd place and 59.9/60 1st place), alongside her Royalborda friend Maive (handled by her mum), who also got a 1st place with 60/60! Such cool girls. Could've been luck from the praying mantis that joined us in the ring on my hat, or maybe just training paying off? 🤔
Little Tilly (1.5yrs old) debuted at the double tricks trial and gained a perfect score of 60/60 which was 2nd place on countback. She also gained 59.6/60 in her second runout. What incredible scores for such a young girl and first trial environment. Proud of her!
Meet the gorgeous Miss Evie! Evie was very fearful and avoidant around nail clipping. With the help of the Treat n Train and moving at Evie's pace, Evie has made a complete turn around and we can now happily handle each paw and cut each nail! So proud of how quickly this girl has learnt that nail clipping can be fun. Way to go Evie!
Here at The Responsive Canine our goal is to adhere to the most ethical training practices at all times!
If your dog is not responding to training, there is always a reason. It is up to us as guardians to find it! 🐶❤️ Here at The Responsive Canine we can help!
Bunnings has become Summit's fave place to hang! Lots of sights and sounds and things to climb on! Today we got used to being around a trolley...he was a natural on AND off it! Ha ha! ...And didn't even chase the wheels! Wadda good boy.
Little 7mth old Summit played stooge dog today with a client whose dog gets overly focused on other dogs, for the first time! He was amazingly calm and filled all the criteria! was great training for him too. So proud of my little man! Got rewarded with his favourite thing afterwards...a dig in the sand!
7 month old Summit is place trained to an elevated bed. Today he got tired of waiting for his treat on this mid-build one ... and ended up falling asleep. 😅 Naaaaw, bless him! What a good boy! 😍
Little Summit couldn't wait to help open the goodie box of dog toys that arrived here today! Toys are a huge part of his life, as is play! He makes it pretty clear every day what his biggest training motivator is! 😂😍
THINK BEFORE (RE)ACTING? 🧐
Dogs exposed to a scary object are more likely to behave positively towards it if the guardian does! Your dog may look to you for information about how you feel about a situation and adjust its response accordingly, so be a positive influence for your dog!
Did you know 💡 ..... dogs can remember that the presence of a hole when their guardian is present has bad consequences, but they are not able to predict that if they dig a hole they will be punished!!!! As Ekram Derek described... animals, like humans, have an episodic-like memory, but it is not as intense as that of people. 🐶
What an achievement! A couple of weeks ago, little Tiger passed her Public Access Test with her guardian, and is now a registered MindDog! After training with this team for a year, I was over the moon with this huge achievement! I just love to be part of such positive changes in people's and dogs' lives. Puts a massive smile on my face! 💕
My naughty spotted little 5 mth old man pulled out his angel halo last night and decided to lay on his new upgraded "adult" sized bed while I cooked dinner, and then ate it too. Not sure where these good choices and calmness came from, but perhaps training is just starting to pay off? 🤔❤️ Watta good boy!
5 months old. ❤️😁
Tonight we came to dog school to play lots of tug and do some simple games and focus activities on our own, on the periphery of the action. Then, we sat under a tree in the distance with a mat and a chew while we watched dogs train. I was so pleased with Summit's enthusiasm, focus and behaviour! He can be a little bit unsure in new environments. So we are taking it slowly and I love seeing his confidence grow! 😊
The moment when your puppy, for the first time, looks at a bird and chooses to look back at you for reinforcement... instead of chasing the bird!!! Training success!! 🎉
We finally did a Bunnings trip! I think he enjoyed himself 😍. Of course being a border collie, his little sheepie toy had to come too. 🐑
He loves his socialisation pram!! 🐶 Such a good boy.
I've been laughed at by my dog world friends 😅 but I still think this pram was the BEST investment to help with Summit's socialisation to different environments! It keeps my hands free, gives him a safe space to observe from, and gets him into places VIP! Ha ha. I highly recommend it. 😍
First time in his sandpit!
Choosing to stand on his wobble board for a pat. Love his confidence already! 🥰
He just loves his little mini obstacle course to build confidence and balance! 🥰

Digging is as natural to pups as playing, peeing, running and sleeping. Summit just loves his home-made sandpit and it gives him a great physical energy outlet...and saves my yard from holes! #theresponsivecanine #goldcoastdogtraining #goldcoastdogtrainer #dogobediencetraining #dogbehaviouraltraining #dogmotivationaltraining #mindDog
