This is a question that I am frequently asked. Many of our flowers and herbs have a rich history of providing various medical benefits, such as aiding in gut health, alleviating anxiety, reducing pain, and potentially lowering the risk of certain cancers and diseases.
So why don't I actively promote these benefits? I believe in transparency and honesty when it comes to my products. While there is evidence supporting the health benefits of these plants, there has not been extensive research conducted on how these benefits specifically translate to canines. Additionally, the levels of beneficial compounds can vary significantly among different varieties of flowers. For example, the carotenoids in pansies vary based on the flower's colour and openness when picked. The flavonoid content in calendula can also differ greatly depending on the variety, the environmental conditions during growth, and the time of day they are harvested.
Considering these factors, I do not feel comfortable promoting the health benefits of these plants, as I do not individually test each batch of flowers. Instead, I focus on promoting the benefits that I can guarantee. These include providing a unique sensory experience for dogs through taste and smell, especially for those who may be overwhelmed by artificial scents like gasoline or household fragrances.

De gustibus non est disputandum.
There's no accounting for taste.
I often get told that people's dogs don't enjoy the tea, and that's not surprising. Many humans don't enjoy a cup of herbal tea, so it makes sense that dogs don't.
There are a few different ways you can add to the flavour of the tea. Add in some flowers: red clover is one of Echo's favourites, as is the callistemon citrinus flowers from the Meadow Tea Chest.
Add a touch of honey: just like with humans, some like their tea with a touch of sweetness. I use local honey.
Favourite toppers: adding in a bit of your dogs favourite topper is also a great way to add a flavour they enjoy.
Finally: pour over your dogs meal. I regularly serve tea poured over dinner, especially in winter. A warm cuppa is a wonderful to warm up.
Remember, ensure the tea is adequately cooled before serving. If you're in a rush, a few ice cubes are a great way to quickly cool it down.
Does your dog enjoy a cuppa?
Echo and I regularly share one while spilling the tea - you won't believe what the dog next door did 😏
