Off lead freedom is ONLY for dogs that have 100% recall under any circumstance.
Yet another poor experience...the 'My dog is friendly' crap is wearing thin.. be better please

It's been a crazy time as of late..
So here's a few bits and pieces from the last few weeks 😁
Maverick has been smashing his reactivity(should I say lack there of) walking past dogs without lunging, barking or carrying on. 👏
Maggie and Colby learning neutrality around other dogs(with the help of old mate Louie). 👏
Oskar is absolutely loving his scent work sessions and enjoying all the new challenges presented. 🤜
Bagel has come on leaps and bounds since our initial consultation, his dedicated owners have put so much work in, amazing what can be done with a bit of loving leadership, rules boundaries and expectations.
Frankie has just begun crate training, looking forward to all that he'll be able to achieve over the next couple of months!

My little take on grooming and why it should be high on your list of considerations when choosing the right breed for you!
It's important to understand the cost(especially professional grooming) and the time that's required for certain breeds..

Puppy basics Week 2 done and dusted with Missy, a small snippet of what we worked through today.. she's one confident pup, and we'll be absolutely using and embracing that to equip her with the tools she'll need in this crazy life. Missy is something else 🤜👌
This is my little dedication to my boy Louie..
When I started this dog training journey a couple years ago and Contento Canines came to fruition, I didn't anticipate or expect how big a role Louie would actually play in helping me with training dogs and modifying behaviours.. In fact I'm not sure he was even part of my plans at all..
A lot of things that Louie is, I can't take credit for, he's just brilliant at the role he plays for me. I've made so many mistakes with my dog's, if only I could go back in time and put in place what I know now.. But in saying that, if that was the case, I probably wouldn't be doing what I truely love right now.
But I will say, if there was one thing that we unintentionally got right as dog owner's, limiting interactions with other dogs, especially on lead, has helped us have a dog that I can I use to help other dogs, especially those that struggle with reactivity!
So thank you my man, you've exceeded my probably some times unfair expectations, but you do so with flying colours. My dogs are the heart and soul of our small business. Like Tupac said, "You are appreciated"

As you guys know by now, one of the biggest aims and objectives since becoming a canine professional is constantly preaching and imploring people to do their breed research before adding a dog to their family. Knowing what you're getting yourself into before hand and understanding the breeds temperament, grooming requirements, potential health issues, exercise needs, knowing what/why they were originally bred for will go a long way into choosing a breed that is right for you and your family. Now of course every dog is different, they have their own individual personalities and it's not always going to be perfect no matter what you do, but there will be certain traits and characteristics through genetics that will always be present i.e. a Spaniel getting excited when seeing a bird. So go out and meet/see these dogs in person, see what they are really like and be honest with yourself.. is this the type of breed that would suit myself and or our family?.
Obviously always be kind, aware and respectful when approaching breeders, people showing their dogs or even just owners, as not everyone will be free to talk at certain moments or times.
Please share this around, I think the message is so important, the more happy people and dogs, the less dogs we'll see in pounds and shelters!

When the Poodle comes out during a training session 😂😅🤦
It's absolutely ok to say no to people who want to have their dogs meet your dog (especially on lead). It will go a long way to having a dog that won't lunge, pull and bark desperately to say hello, which will reduce the risk of dog fights on lead.
