🔥 Sneak peek for Hayley and Lachie of the stunning Ember!

Ember is a gorgeous 2-year-old Chocolate Merle Border Collie. When I asked Hayley about Ember, she said "She means the absolute world to me, I plan everything possible around her now and could not imagine a life without her. A typical answer I know, but she really has my entire heart on lock and I want to give her the best life possible." ❤🔒🔑

When I finally got to meet Ember, it took no time at all for her to steal a piece of my heart too! - This intelligent, sweet, and energetic girl was so much fun to work with and so full of life! Ember was quick to show off her tricks, and her speed, giving us endless opportunities to capture her incredible athleticism! Ember took a particular liking to one of our studio staples, "Sheepie" (a small stuffed sheep toy) 🐑

Throwback to that unforgettable trip to New Zealand ✨

This photo takes me back to the stunning landscapes and the incredible pets I had the honour of photographing there, attending a fantastic pet photography workshop run by the amazing . It’s been a few years now, but it always makes me feel happy when I think of my time there! I'd love to go back one day! Who else has a travel destination they’re longing to revisit? 🌍

📸 Sneak peek #1 with "Tinsel" the Finnish lapphund.

🌅 Tinsel and handsome Leevi arrived for their session awake and eager to get down to the beach. Nicole (their pawrent) and I, however, were a little bleary-eyed and bewildered after our 3am wake-up, and 4am drive!). We stumbled our way down to the beach carefully but quickly as we raced the sunrise, keen to get our spot before the magic started! As the sun crept up over the horizon adding colour to the sky, my energy (and excitement) came flooding back! This was such a fun session (and quite the workout!).

✨ It's being able to capture moments like this one that make the sleep deprivation all worth it! Check back tomorrow when we share an image of the magnificent Leevi!

A great outdoor location with room to run, seasonal colours, a scenic view and space for adventures can make your pet's photo session extra special - however, that doesn't mean that an in-home session can't also be memorable! At-home sessions are a great way to capture those every-day moments you love with your pet. Some pets (like cats) may not cope well with car travel or new places, whilst others may be too nervous, or unwell.

At home sessions are also a great way to capture those quirks and cute moments that seem to only happen at home and offer a wonderful chance to get some images of your pet in their favourite resting spot, rolling in the grass, doing zoomies, looking at the window, or sunning themselves on the couch.

If you’re looking for a calm and peaceful setting for your photos, there’s no place like home! 🐾

Did you know hairless dogs need extra TLC to keep their skin healthy and happy? Because they don’t have fur, their skin produces natural oils for protection, so regular baths and a good moisturiser are part of their care routine.

For those living with allergies to pet hair, these dogs can be a great addition to the family, however, it's important to note that even hypoallergenic pets can still cause some response/allergy, albeit far less! From the striking Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced "show-low-eats-QUEENT-lee") to the character-filled, charming Chinese Crested, these dogs are all about personality and charm! 💕

✨ Sneak Peek Time! ✨

When Tori first reached out, I admit I did a double take - her address was over 8 hours away from Melbourne! Surely there’d been a mix-up? But no, Tori knew exactly what she was doing and was happy to make the trip for just the right photographer (what an honour! no pressure😅). Her visit to Melbourne lined up perfectly, and soon we were deep in planning for a truly special session. That’s when I got to learn all about Nova—a gorgeous 12.5-year-old Samoyed who’s the light of Tori’s life. Tori describes Nova as "friendly, lights up peoples faces easily, very loved, and smiley". It was so clear how much love they share, and I felt privileged to hear their story. Nova isn’t just a senior girl; she’s also facing some serious health challenges, making this session even more meaningful. Capturing their incredible bond was at the heart of it all, and I’m so glad we could create these moments together. ❤️

Big ears, big personality, big heart!

At my planning appointment with pet parents Mike & Emma, I asked them to give me three words that they felt best represented Tate and who he is / what he loves! Here's what they said: 🧡 'Ears!' 💚 'Playful' (ball, frisbee, tug - you name it!) 🧡 'Absolutely gorgeous!' Tate had me up, down, and running around to keep ahead of him, but it was SO worth it for the results! Tate is an energetic boy who loves to play yet the image that I wanted to share is actually one of stillness and clam. I love hower powerful yet peaceful this image is, and the way the sun gently highlights Tate's outline - especially his incredible ears! 🐾

Jaxx the black lab is a handsome, happy boy!

Meet Jaxx, the 2.5-year-old black lab! Jaxx and his "pawrent," Liz, recently joined me for a playful sunset session! Liz wanted to capture some heartfelt moments of her handsome boy, Jaxx, as well as a few special shots of the two of them together. There were so many incredible moments from this session, it was tough to decide which one to share! I chose this image—one of the very last from the evening. Jaxx’s sleek, jet-black coat contrasts beautifully with the rich, golden glow of the sun’s final rays. Liz describes Jaxx as: ⭐Obedient, yet cheeky! 🥳 Playful and fun-loving 💖Affectionate (loves cuddles!) .. and we agree! Thanks for coming on an adventure with me Jaxx! 🥰

Our Story

Pet photography. by pet lovers, for pet lovers.

Whether you’ve stumbled across us by accident (and stayed for the cuteness) or you’ve been thinking about a pet photography session for a while - we’re glad you’re here! I’m Meg, owner, and photographer for Megan O’Hehir Pet Photography. I’m spend my days working as a pet photographer, dog trainer, and loyal companion (re chauffeur, cleaner, cook, servant, and friend) to my two cheeky, four-legged fuzz-butts; Kaylee (Labrador) and Abby (calico cat).

Why pets? I often get smiles and curious expressions when people ask what it is I do for work. “Pet photography! wow - why pets?” The answer is easy. I’ve always had immense love and respect for animals. They are hands down, my favourite subject matter. During my time studying photography, I photographed a wide range of subjects but none have captivated me in the same way that animals have. Animals make it easy to create, they inspire me to pick up my camera. Photographing pets is such an enjoyable process or me; capturing their honest and unfiltered emotions and joy makes it easy for me to create colourful and engaging pet portraiture.
