Canine Teenagers of the Nth Beaches!
We have some places available in our Adolescence class starting at Smithfield this Thursday evening. Class time is 6.15pm.
This class is designed for dogs six months and over. We will cover on lead work, as well as behavioural education.

How do you get your Therapy Dog 🐾to stay in a drop, and be patted by so many people?
We practice in lots of different places and under lots of different distraction.
While we were filming for the documentary, I asked my special dog to do something he had never experienced before.
The TAIKO drums 🪘 are obviously very appropriate 😉 but the nerve strength of my dog was inspirational.
Our relationship has grown so much with practice, exposure, & trust.
I was giving him reassurance from afar, with eye contact, and hand signals, at the very end when he shifted position, a gentle word.
This dog has many roles in my business, and his workplace is varied from day to day.
Bless you ACE 🥰 this exercise was not for the faint hearted. You are more special than you will ever know, & I am lucky enough to call you my boy 💙🐾

Congratulations 🥳 to another gorgeous group of Puppy School graduates!
I never stop smiling looking at these photos, & I never forget the work you have all done to get to this point.
It was only 5 weeks ago that you all walked in to the training area with your little canines.
There has been a lot of learning, & a lot of practice in a short time.
Your puppies are like a sponge 🧽 they are absorbing so many things in their world.
Now is the time to imprint those patterns and routines. Working through lifestyle exercises, & basic obedience commands.
Environmental exposure, combined with impulse control, as you build your relationship in this first chapter.
Keep walking together.. step by step.. lead in hand.. as you discover the world.

BIG IN JAPAN: Cairns Hospital Emergency Department wellness consultant Ace (the therapy dog) is set to be very ‘paw-pular’🐾 in Japan 🎌

A film crew from Japan, who are producing a TV documentary series on Australian working dogs, travelled to Cairns this week to film Ace providing his popular one-on-one therapy sessions with our hard-working ED staff.

The crew are also in the country filming a koala detection dog, a sea gull patrol dog, and a cattle station dog.

Hospitals can be intense places for both healthcare workers and patients.

Therapy dogs can offer staff moments of calmness and relaxation.

There is medical evidence that dogs can help reduce anxiety, lower the heart rate and blood pressure.

Ace, who visits the hospital once a month, provides our ED staff with a moment of peacefulness while they interact with him.

He even has his own special consultant equipment box, which includes a lint roller so staff can remove any dog hair from their scrubs before they go back to work!

ACE 🐾 the Movie Star ⭐️🎥 🍿

The last 4 days have been nothing short of AMAZING 🤩
My darling Golden Dog had been “walking the walk” & “talking the talk” for a Japanese 🇯🇵 documentary about Working Dogs 🐕 in Australia 🇦🇺
He is a Therapy Dog at the ED Department for Cairns Base Hospital, an education dog for children, my obedience training dog, & my beloved pet.
Thank You 🙏 so much to Shu & Shige for you belief in our story. What an honour to know that my gorgeous Golden Retriever from Cairns, scored a spot in this fantastic production.
I am forever grateful to Erin ( Director of Nursing ED Department), & everyone who has been a part of the life of this truly special dog.
A big Thank You 🙏 to Ryan & Jenny, TATE Animal Training Enterprises, for putting my dog forward to be considered for this fantastic opportunity.
So many special moments recorded over the last few days… I can’t wait to see the finished product 🥰🐾

Friday afternoons are for tummy scratches, big canine smiles 😁 and lots of tail wagging.
As your workday progresses, it changes to soft strokes, a soothing voice, and an afternoon nap 💤 in the company of lots of truly wonderful people.
Every visit is like opening another chapter. He knows what his job is, and he loves every moment.
This dog is a gift to so many, & I am simply the lucky one that gets to share him.
Love you my beautiful boy. You brighten everyone’s world simply by being in it…. 😘🐾.

So many moments to treasure from 2024. Puppies 🐶 & dogs 🐕 of every size & shape have graced our training ground. New clients, Our SUPERDOGS team, my awesome crew with A Dogs Choice Training Services. Working with the wonderful team at Beachside 🏝️ Veterinary Hospital, implementing classes on the Northern Beaches. A fantastic workshop with Ryan Tate, “Tate Animal Training Enterprises” who came to Cairns, and shared so much knowledge & so many skills. Friendships embraced with like minded people who love dogs, and believe in everything we do. Training goals reached, celebrating the success of others, learning new things, & being so grateful for this life. Thanks to my wonderful husband & kids 🥰 who support my passion & the joy it brings to my world. No words can ever express my gratitude to my AWESOME 🤩 staff who are the backbone of everything we achieve at Canine Training School. To my friend Liz Jackman ❤️ another wonderful year of working together.
