Tip for creating easy to catch horss..
If you want your horses to like being around you, make friends with them.
Do the little things they can't do easily for themselves.
Before you know it they will come to you and ask for your help.
Here's an example of how to work on making your horses hind end as safe to be around as the front end.
Walking horses after leg swelling
After the rain and flooding in SEQ over the last week, a lot of horses have swollen legs from standing around, and from the excess moisture getting into their systems.
Walking on a solid surface is one of the best things you can do for this, gentle movement to get the circulation going again.
You'll also want to watch for rain scald and greasy heel, both caused by fungus and bacteria growth.
Wash with a good shampoo to clean the skin, then put Malaseb (or Betadine) on and leave for at least 15 minutes to kill the bacteria.
Pay particular attention to the heel bulbs and pasterns to both disinfect and to dry after.
For internal help, make sure they are getting full doses of minerals, Equi Horse+Se or HoofXtra and add Equine Amino to boost the keratin (skin) repair. Check the Shop for these.
Also make sure they get enough salt salt to balance up their sodium requirements.
Scarily, the stocks of Mycosorb in Australia have dried completely up, as that is the other thing to have on hand at the moment.
Water and minerals
Manual water supply is a pain, but we've made it as simple as we can. It's only a temporary paddock clean out so not looking to put a more permanent solution here.
Also talking about the importance of minerals for health and well doing, even for the turned out ones.
Multiple Water Bin Setup
Water bin setup where we need to have more than 1 bin filled each day.
Extreme Lateral Flexion
As long as my ears are level it's not bent too far is it mum?
Do you have an overachiever in the family? 😆😍🤣
Loving the in-hand work that we are doing with the horses at the moment.
It's really helping to refine the horses responses and comfort levels.

Our Story
At My Horse Supplies we’ve found it really is possible to have 2-3x quicker healing of major wounds.
A few years ago, we started to actively research and test natural products to use on our horses wounds. After trying a dozen combinations of products we’ve put together a unique combination that we call Golden Honey Healing Ointment.
Our WMT or Wound Management Technology uses only the highest quality natural products that have proven antibiotic and antibacterial properties. The ingredients used in the Healing Ointment have been tested to show improved tissue integrity in the skin regrowth which results in much quicker healing.
By speeding up the wound healing using a WMT package you can be back riding and competing with your horse 50% sooner, with a lot less stress to both of you.
So, there you have it. That’s us… If you have any further questions get in touch with us and we’ll do our best to help you.
