🐾 How to Teach the ‘Stand’ Command! 🐾
Ready to teach your dog to Stand? Here’s a simple step-by-step guide using a hand lure:
Start in a Sit Position: Begin with your dog sitting calmly.
Use a Hand Lure: Hold a treat or toy in front of your dog’s nose, then slowly lure them forward until they stand up.
Mark & Reward: As soon as they stand, say “Yes!” or use a clicker to mark the behaviour.
Release with a Backward Toss: Instead of having them move forward, say "Get it!" and throw a treat or toy behind them to encourage them to move back. This reinforces that the ‘Stand’ is about holding the position, not moving forward.
Why This Works:
By tossing the reward behind, your dog learns that standing isn't always about moving forward. This helps them focus on holding the position while improving their understanding of the command.

To help your dog understand the command in various situations:
Change Positions: Practice from different postures like down, so your dog understands “Stand” from any position.
Work in New Environments: Try practicing in various locations—like the park, your yard, or even indoors with distractions around—to improve focus.

⭐️Two easy ways to teach a middle position ⭐️
1️⃣ First method
➡️ Treat in both hands
➡️ Lure your dog behind your leg with one hand and switch their attention to the treat in your other hand from the front of your legs, luring them around and through your legs to the front
➡️ Reward in position
Throw a treat away from you to help them break from position
➡️ Start to hold them in this position and ask them to sit
➡️ Lots of rewards to reinforce this position
2️⃣ Second method
➡️ With your dog in front of you, throw a treat through your legs so they go through your legs and behind you
➡️ Use another treat to lure them back through your legs to the front
➡️ Throw a treat away from you to help them break position
➡️ Once they get the hang of it you can start to add a sit and drop position
