A chapter ends for me but a bright new story for these two...
Over the last 4 years I set up 4 small market gardens for my own business in Melb (whilst also working/studying casually elsewhere 1-3 days). But the time now has come for broader visions and future pastures.
So I'm delighted, nostalgically sad and proud to hand over the last of my plots to new growers Danny and Jessie >>> check them out here >>> 🤗
The legacy of this site continues through them. I'd note that lots of people applied to me to take on this site...Which shows the serious interest and opportunity for land holders to get creative & make a positive impact!
Urban farming is a wonderful venture. It has an important role to play in education, engagement/media to challenge our diabolical food system and injustices. Maybe as important with the ave. age of farmers 60+ urban ag is also a starting or trial block for 'suburban' kids like me ..to see what it's like without moving / buying / leasing land.
I hope more urban plots keep popping up, inspired by growers with innovative ideas on how to produce considerable good food from small places.
I (Sim) / Spoke and Spade will continue to post, various adventures/musings on food production and market gardening. Turnips of love 🌻
