At The Treatery, we're passionate about supporting rescue dogs and giving back to the animals who need it most. Each month we give back to a rescue through our Rescue of the Month and Cookies With a Cause program, in addition to attending more than 6 charity events every year! My dog's heart failed because of you.

Before The Treatery ever existed, I trusted another business.

They said all the right things: “No preservatives. No nasties. No added sodium.” And I believed them.

For Pluto, sodium wasn’t just another ingredient on a label. It was life or death. With a grade 6 heart murmur and two severe heart conditions, we counted every milligram. I thought I was doing the right thing by supporting a small business, buying their treats every month, getting to know the owner at markets. I sent those treats to his daycare for all the dogs to share so Pluto didn’t feel left out when he wasn’t allowed to go on adventures with the other dogs.

But Pluto kept ending up in ICU in congestive heart failure from fluid retention. His specialist kept asking about his diet and we’d go over it again and again.

And then one day, a stranger sent me a message I’ll never forget: a link showing the exact same treats I’d been buying. Made in China. Salt as the fourth ingredient. Sugar as the fifth. They weren’t handmade locally. They were mass produced overseas and repacked then sold at markets.

I had been lied to.

This lie is why The Treatery exists. To do better. To be honest. To never, ever risk another dog’s life for the sake of profit.

Pluto deserved so much more. And every bag of treats we make is my promise to him that no dog, and no pet parent, will ever go through what we did.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a proper update. When Ally got sick we had to pause a lot, even the progress on our new warehouse.

Things are slowly starting to move again and I wanted to share a little photo dump of what’s been happening this week. From the old warehouse pack up, to the new build taking shape and everything in between, it’s been such a stop and start journey but every little step forward feels special.

I can’t thank you enough for being here with me through it all. Every order truly helps and means more than I can say.

Thank you for cheering us on through the hard parts and celebrating the little wins with us. You’re part of this journey and I’m so grateful.

Happy Father’s Day 💛

Behind The Treatery is not just a business, it’s a family. Kym isn’t just our co-founder, he’s “dog dad” to our crew, especially daddy's girl Ally. From the late night medication routines, to unexpected vet visits, to hours of meal prepping for our trio that never make it to social media, he’s been there through it all.

Today we celebrate the dads who give their whole hearts to their dogs. The ones who walk them in the rain, sit up with them when they’re unwell, scoop their p**p (endlessly!) and love them fiercely every single day.

Here’s to Kym, and to all the amazing dog dads out there 🐾💛
