The recent summer extreme heat and bushfire danger is something we dread at the Sanctuary. While the garden hose is perfect for cooling down our animal friends, we need something a bit more heavy duty if we ever needed to stay and fight.
Luckily, we’ve been kitting out our team with firefighting equipment if the worst does happen.
Fingers crossed we won’t ever need to use it.

🎁 THANK YOU HIGH TAIL IT DOG GROOMING FOR THE EXTRA CHRISTMAS CHEER! 🎁
Just before Christmas we were amazed to receive a generous donation of goods from High Tail It Dog Grooming and their customers.
We let the dogs staying at the Sanctuary over Christmas pick out their new favourite toy. It was a great way to give them a unique and exciting engagement and stimulation opportunity to get their noises and brains working.

🙏 PLEASE HELP MINA FIGHT FOR HER LIFE 🙏

This morning, sweet rescue dog Mina was attacked by another dog while on her morning walk. With horrific damage to her neck, along with numerous wounds across her body, Vets for Compassion volunteer Mel raced Mina to Emergency, then to our own Forever Friends clinic where we stabilised her further.
Mina needs critical care around the clock in order to survive, followed by multiple surgeries which will cost at least $20,000 at a specialist.
It's a huge amount of money for our volunteer-run rescue group. But Mina deserves this chance.
Before she was rescued the first time, Mina experienced abuse in her previous home - as evidenced by cigarette burn scars on her body.
Mina is a survivor and we want to give her the chance to do more than that; she deserves to thrive.
Her carer tells us she's a sweet and gentle girl who has helped alert him to two injured birds in need.
It breaks our hearts to need to reach out to you once more. But there are always more animals that need compassion, kindness, and Forever Friends.

💙 THANK YOU FOR YOUR HERCULEAN HELP! 💙
We cannot begin to express how wonderful it has been to see so many people rally around our beloved Hercules after his life-threatening GDV event. Your support has meant we’ve been able to focus on getting him the major surgery and care he needs, rather than worrying about how to fund the costs.
You’ll all be glad to see, too, that Hercules has been given the all-clear to come back to the Sanctuary. Sticking his head out the car window, he’s clearly feeling his usual goofy self. While it might be a little while yet before he can play with his friends, everyone is happy he’s back.
Over the coming days, a vet will check on him to make sure he’s healing as he should. We’re crossing our fingers for no post-surgery complications.
Thank you once again — at the end of what has been a long hard year in rescue, it’s incredibly heartening to know that there are so many people who care.

🐶❤️🩹 BRAVE BREEDING DOGS LEARN WHAT MAKES THEM SPECIAL ❤️🩹🐶
Dumped with another rescue by a breeder who was looking to ‘cull’ their numbers, these little sweethearts with their soulful eyes have shown so much courage, strength and resilience. The rescue reached out to us to help save these dogs.
Many of them have atrophied back leg muscles from being kept in a cage for most of their lives. Their teeth are rotting and need to be removed to prevent further infection. They have lumps too that need to be removed to minimise the risk of cancer. These dogs have never known what it’s like to be loved, cared for and treated like living creatures rather than a product.
Until now. Each dog is being allowed to come out of their shell at their own pace. Every day is a new opportunity to discover themselves, as well as understand that they’re safe.

Emo Brothers are ready to be your Paramore These dark and mysterious guinea pig brothers are ready to the emo trio of your dreams. With their luscious dark locks, and laissez-faire attitudes, Chad, Dawn and Vincent are undeniable (Death Cab for) Cuties.
Coming from a hoarding situation where they fended for themselves, and things were at an All Time Low, their rescue day was a Day To Remember. They have blossomed in care, are feeling Brand New, and are ready to Take Back Sunday.
Chad definitely gives lead singer energy, while Dawn and Vincent are happy to back up. The boys are healthy and happy, and loving life in their New Found Glory. They have been through a lot together, and so we are seeking a home for the three of them as a unit. While they sometimes rile each other up, they never Fall Out (Boy).
The boys are entire, so would like a home together, or could be integrated into a colony with desexed females or other males. They would love a home where they will sleep inside, an a size appropriate enclosure, and be the centre of your (Jimmy Eat) World.

😭🚨 URGENT Appeal for Casper: A Lifeline Needed for 5 Weeks! 🚨😭
Casper, a beautiful 5-year-old pure white Husky, has endured horrific neglect. Before being rescued, he was left in a backyard with his sister, so badly neglected that their ears had been eaten away. Given his traumatic past, Casper is understandably nervous around other pets.
Despite everything he's been through, Casper has shown incredible resilience. He’s housebroken, sweet, and calm when at home. He loves his teddies, belly rubs, and just wants to make you smile. Casper’s foster carers adore him, and he's made remarkable progress in their care.
However, they are going away for 5 weeks starting tomorrow, and without a temporary foster home, Casper’s only option is to go to our sanctuary, where he won't cope well.
The last time he was there, the unfamiliar sounds and smells made him very anxious, and he lost a significant amount of weight. We cannot let this happen to him again.
We desperately need someone with a big heart to step forward and offer Casper a safe, warm home for just 5 weeks.
A pet-free home or a place where he can be separated is preferred. We will provide all the supplies; you just need to provide the love and care he so desperately needs.
