🐾 6 Tips for Keeping the Peace in a Multi-Cat Household 🐱 1. Gradual Introductions: When bringing home a new cat, start slow. Keep the newcomer in a separate room with its own litterbox and food. Let them smell each other through the door before supervised face-to-face meetings. 2. Remove the Vet Scent: After a vet visit, rub a towel on the returning cat, then on your other cats, and back again. This helps blend their scents and reduces tension. 3. Share the Resources: Make sure there are enough litterboxes, scratching posts, and toys for everyone. More hiding spots and cat trees with high perches can also help reduce conflicts. Avoid covered litterboxes if possible. 4. Neuter the Males: Neutering male cats can help reduce aggression, although it might not eliminate it entirely. 5. Safe Hiding Spots: Create safe spaces for bullied cats. A separate room or microchip-operated cat flaps can give them a place to retreat. 6. Consult the Vet: If conflicts persist, talk to your vet.
