Community Cat Carers: no kill rescue, rehabilitate and rehome
We are a registered Not-for-profit cat rescue organisation supporting the rescue and re-homing of str Community Cat Carers Inc. Why desexing is so important.
(17)
is a registered NFP cat rescue group which supports community initiatives around desexing and re-homing of street cats. We achieved our charity status through the Australian Charity & Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) in November 2012. Our mission is to improve the welfare of all cats by reducing the overpopulation of street cats around Sydney. We do this by providing advice and support as well as
much needed funds for desexing programs and food, to the people in our community who are actively supporting these vulnerable cats. Our rescue and rehoming work is funded through the generosity of our supporters in the community and partnerships which provide discounted pet food, products and rescue rate for all vet work by our partnering veterinarians. We are run by a group of committed and experienced volunteers, who dare to dream of a better world for all animals. Did you know that a kitten as young as 4-5 months can have a litter of up to 5 babies? This is why desexing all cats is so important. By five months of age, female cats can become pregnant and males may begin to display aggression and spray urine to mark their territory
‘Early-age desexing’, refers to the desexing of kittens between two to three months of age, and is endorsed by RSPCA Australia. It is practised by most Australian animal shelters and rescue organisations and increasingly, veterinarians are seeing the benefits or early desexing. Come and join us 🐾
Because we are volunteer run we are always looking for experienced and committed people to help us with our work. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please follow the link to submit your details and someone from our group will contact you when there is a need. Thank you 💜
Our work would not be possible without the support and encouragement of so many community partners, associated vets and community donations. Thank you.

Meet Chuppa Chup one of our most recent rescues. Old man Chuppa was an illusive street boy we have been trying to rescue for years, we thought he was blind and wondered how he survived like this on the street, but he managed with his incredible instincts. Finally we got him! Off to the vets to discover he had condition called entropion in which your eyelid turns inward so that your eyelashes and skin rub against the eye surface. So both eyes were operated on, one severely scared by years of living like this….as he healed we noticed this one eye was getting worse which led to is eventual rupture and sadly had to be removed…he is now healing well and we will keep you updated. Luckily for us he is turning out to be a bit of a love bug because of his condition he will now live the rest of his days in full time care.
This and other cases like this is where your donations go…we are self funded so we thank you, for without your support we could not do what we do…
As it reaches the end of this financial year if you can afford please consider to donate to Chuppa vet bills.
All donations are tax deductible.
Greatly appreciated

As we head closer to the EOFY we need your help so we are reaching out…CCC has had a pretty rough start this year as we work hard to build ourselves back up your support is never more needed and vital to our mission. We are not overly active on social media as we are so busy tending to the work, but know our days run into nights and all our time is spent on care. As you know we have unhomable street cats, special needs fluffs, along with couch surfer seniors in long term care, this takes a lot of time patience and money to sustain…food, bedding, medications & vet visit etc consume our little rescue…as well we feed several street colonies.
Let us introduce you to some of our forever angels so you know where your donations go… 🙏
Casper (white one eyed monster) is one of our gorgeous older boys he has arthritis and early renal issues.
Nava (pictured with Casper) this little Xstreetie is beautiful to look at but she would rather humans appreciated her from afar!
Tiny, who was born in a horrible place surrounded by her family who passed away around her, she was so small and sick the vets told us she also would likely not make it, but here she is 7 years later sadly she has permanent eye damage and breathing issues.
Baba, senior couch surfer with serious respiratory issues and is on constant medications to keep him comfortable.
Last but by not least, Hero our 3 legged wonder baby who story is so sad, born healthy but got squashed in a doorway so he needed one back leg amputated and the other has serious nerve damage.
Though these guys have had rough lives before coming into care, we are dedicated to giving them all they need.
We are so grateful for you support and donations large or small!
Donations are tax deductible

Meet Pheonix! Due to no fault of his own this stunning gentleman needs to find a new forever home…if you think he is a fit for you please contact Tanya directly on the number below….
Urgent rehoming required as my elderly mum has developed tremors and falls and having a cat around her feet is increasing the risk of injury. Phoenix is a domestic short hair cross who is 10years old (nearly 11). He loves to snuggle near you but also loves time in another room to curl up by himself. He is friendly and greets everyone with a beautiful hello. To me he has a gorgeous and unique meow where you think he is talking to you mainly asking for a special treat. He is not fussy about food, eats dry food with a cat paste for a treat. He is vet checked, healthy, microchipped, vaccinated and desexed. He can tolerate children visiting but needs his quiet time. Bedding ( though sleeps anywhere) and supply of his food will be provided as well as 12 month supply of his monthly flea and worm solution. If able to help please message Tanya on 0400963171 and I will return your call.

Hey guys it’s with a really heavy heart the team here at ccc write this post. As you know as well as feeding, desexing and rehoming many street cats we also care for sick, palative, disabled & injured cats & kittens. We also try to help the public with as many cases as we can. We rarely ask for help but we are desperate. Last week we experienced something that has shattered us, our charity bank account was practically emptied which has left us with no funds for food, an emergency or any vet work that is needed. All we can do so we can provide for the animals that rely on us is to reach out to you. If you could donate any amount small or large to help get us through it will be greatly appreciated, so we can keep the ball rolling and keep the animals fed a vetted…We are only a small group of 4 and at the moment we are spread really thin…not just financially we are also emotionally spent and at a loss as to why someone would do this to a charity….Thank you in advance for all your love & support.
A TAX INVOICE WILL BE ISSUED FOR ALL DONATIONS OVER $2 FOR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS🙏

This picture is funny but undesexed cats are not.
Did you know that a female cat can get pregnant at 5 months of age? And that she can have multiple pregnancies in a 12 month period.
Desexing is not unfair to a cat.
Having multiple kittens that then can also reproduce ensuring an explosion of cats is what is unfair.
Please desex.

About Indie
Meet Indie – our 2.5 year old, medium-haired tabby lady with adorable white socks and slightly crossed, bright eyes that never fail to steal hearts! A true beauty in her own right, Indie is a cat who loves and craves human companionship.
Her heartwarming nature truly comes to life when she becomes a constant companion next to your desk while you work or a cute factotum napping on your feet. Her inseparable bond with loved ones bestows her the nickname, 'Velcro cat.'
Indie is every bit a radiant princess as she relishes being spoiled with plentiful attention, treats, and her favorite toys. Although she still needs some time and patience to adjust to new surroundings, Indie’s impeccable temperament helps her feel comfortable quickly. Don't be surprised if she's a bit shy at first, a few treats go a long way to winning her heart.
Though Indie doesn’t mind the title of an 'only pet,' she has proven to be versatile and sociable enough to coexist with another pet. Bring her home, and Indie will certainly reciprocate the love she receives. Her loyal nature and loving presence will form a bond that cat lovers dream of, slowly transforming your house into a heartwarming home!
Those who come to understand and adore Indie’s quiet magnificence are very fortunate indeed. We firmly believe that Indie would make a very loving and extremely companionable addition to your family. Bring her home now, and let Indie bring vibrant colors of joy to your life!

A pic of just some of our saved street cats.
Safely in a rescue home and no cat fights. They all appreciate being safe. As they are mature cats the chance of finding homes is low but hopefully somebody would like to take one home

Her name is
Dorlene A Haider
A sad story unfortunately. I feed a small colony that Im tnr on the boarder of Riverwood and punchbowl. This sweet cat comes over and says hello I thought he lived in the villas but a few days ago I spoke to the people that lived there and they said the owners moved out and left behind. I scanned him found a chip, contact owners. They said he went missing just before they moved out, , they came back searching for him but couldn't find him this was a year ago. They already have two cats now and they don't want him, he is a rescue from campbelltown pound where they got him. He's only 3yrs old. He was once an indoor cat and now he's living outside under cars and in people's bushes. I have no room whatsoever to take this poor guy on. He is so sweet and affectionate does anybody know any rescue that can take him on. I told the owners if we find him I rescue or a home they will need to transfer over chip details and they're happy with that.

Our Story
We are a small group of rescuers trying to do something about the ever growing homeless cat population.
We work primarily in Sydney’s Inner West, Redfern and Waterloo, but we try our best to help cats in need in all the places we can reach. All colony cats are desexed & observed for medical ailments.
We always need volunteers - are you interested in helping to:
Feed cats
Foster cats
Socialise cats
Adopt cats
Donate to our cause? Please personal message us on our FB page
We value teamwork & partnership, community engagement, fairness & participation.
Community Cat Carers Inc. is a registered charity, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
MORE ABOUT US
Community Cat Carers Inc. achieved charity status in November 2012.
We are a donation-funded, animal-welfare charity based in Sydney’s Inner West.
Our objective is to reduce the overpopulation (& improve the welfare) of homeless cats Sydney-wide.
NO MORE HOMELESS KITTENS IN THE STREETS.
Working in alliance with community groups and willing to work with Councils, Community Cat Carers provides food & medical attention to multiple colonies.
We employ a capture-desex-rehome protocol for felines, and obviously strive to rehome as many of these cats as possible.
DESEX AND VACCINATE YOUR CAT
It is strongly recommended that your cat be desexed before it reaches sexual maturity, which can be as early as four months of age. Traditionally, cats were desexed between six & nine months of age. However, by five months of age, female cats can become pregnant and males may begin to display aggression and spray urine.
‘Early-age desexing’, refers to the desexing of kittens between two to three months of age, and is endorsed by RSPCA Australia. It is practised by most large Australian animal shelters and an increasing number of veterinarians.
Vaccination will help prevent your cat or kitten being infected by deadly feline viruses. Vaccinate early and annually.
