You can get involved in so many things with your dog. Therapy work is one way and can be incredibly rewarding ⭐️😍

This is my dog Magic (Moo) in her therapy role with retired racehorses. Magic helps these horses become comfortable with dogs which is often part of their public life after racing 🐎🐎

Prince is in love with Moo as she means licorice treats 🖤

We work with some very nervous horses but it usually doesn’t take long before they start to build a more relaxed connection with Moo and then are not as sensitive to other dogs too.

This is our way of doing therapy work but there is aged care, schools and others options to get involved.
If your dog is confident, calm and social maybe this cold be for you. Dogs usually need to have an accreditation to go into public facilities but there are many options to have your dog tested as a therapy dog 🐕💜

From helping Lily learn some on lead skills and impulse control to teaching Lyla the foundations of life 🎓🎓

Obviously Lyla needs a lie down and was having lovely dreams while her owners and I chatted about puppy training 💤

I had the pleasure of chaperoning this handsome boy at his owners wedding recently 💍
I picked him up and took him to the venue where he was walked down the aisle for the ceremony. Then he starred in the family photos 🌟
He was such a well behaved boy and a delight to spend the afternoon with him on such a wonderful day 💐💍💓

The ball pits are a confidence building exercise and is also good for mental stimulation if you drop some small food treats in there 😊

I often hear from puppy clients that they are putting their hand in their dog’s food bowl and taking bones away from them to desensitise the pup.
This can very easily go wrong as doing this creates uncertainty for the pup and can trigger them to protect their food and can result in aggression behaviours.
I see this resulting in aggression too often and it can be avoided.
When feeding your puppy, give them their bowl or bone and then leave them alone. If necessary feed them in a crate or pen.
Teach children that the dogs food, bowl and area when eating are no go zones.
Black and white - no grey areas.
Teach your puppy commands such as “Leave” to break the focus on an item and “Out” to drop something out of their mouths. Teaching these commands with non confrontational methods is far safer than creating unpredictability by interfering with their high value resource being food 🥩🦴🍖
How would you like it if someone came and took your Parma away when you were half way through it? 🤷‍♀️

That’s a wrap! Last training job before Xmas was chaperoning Stella at her pet parents wedding 💍
She was a dream to hang out with for the afternoon and was perfectly behaved for the official photos. Such a happy little soul 😀

Billy is a party boy 🎉 He likes to greet people by jumping up with lots of excitement. Not good for Billy and not great for the people 😩
But today Billy showed how he can be calm and can choose to keep all 4 paws on the ground ⭐️ He did a great job ✅

So I made a snuffle mat today 😀 What is it you ask? Well you bury treats in it and the dog uses their nose to snuff them out. Teaching the “out” command through play is an easy and non confrontational way of training 🎾⚽️ I teach the “out” and “leave” commands in a similar way. These commands are important when you want you’re dog to drop something they’ve picked up that they’re not meant to have or to move away from something 👍😊 This can apply to food, bones, random things on the footpath whilst out walking etc 🦴🌭

Moo has added some new friends to her circle of champion racehorse mates.
