He is my most loyal fan and the most intense animal love of my life so that’s tricky for me to deal with. He is still going but I know it’s not for long and that’s a hard pill to swallow. It all started with two red dogs 💕

Well…
It’s the end of an era for me. After 12 years of working with dogs (for me) and 6.5 years since opening first Sandy Paws, and then Pawtastic Dog Training with the lovely Sophie Noss we have closed doors. I’ve made some friends for life through dog training.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved.
We have sold the business and I’m moving on. It’s been a wonderful journey but it’s time for me to move on. I’m not far off completing my cert 4 disability and I’ve been working in disability since March which I’m loving.

I started a diploma of mental health last week so I’m schooling for next year or so while working and loving working with humans 💕

Feeling a bit weepy tonight as I will truely miss my friends and dog training clients and of course all the dogs that I have worked with over my nearly 12 years of dog training.

Lots of love and thanks to everyone who has been involved in my dog training journey, and it’s not goodbye but see you around.

⭐️Important announcement⭐️

Hey guys, this coming round will be our final round of classes 😢

Sadly, we have come to the decision to wrap up Pawtastic for now 😢

Sophie and Kate are moving on to new adventures and finding more time to spend with their families. With the business still going well it’s been a very difficult decision. However, we can no longer give it 100% and we feel you deserve nothing less than that.

💕We have had an epic journey and will be sad to say goodbye but have loved every minute. We want to thank each and everyone of our clients over the years and we are so grateful you have trusted us with your nearest and dearest and have loved being able to see you all develop and grow on confidence and ability and most of all have fun with your dogs 💕

We also want to thank all our wonderful staff who are amazing and we can’t thank enough.

We farewelled Wendy today as it was her final day, it’s wonderful to have her on board and wish her every success in the future 🥰

Our final 5 weeks will be focusing on fun, social agility and obedience, with week 5 being an agility fun day for all 💕

We would love to see you this term for one last Hurrah. Don't miss out and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our journey ❤️

Koa skills 💕 Pawtastic Dog Training

Koa and I had lots of fun at agility this morning. We are loving learning but as you can see we still have a long way to go before we will be ready for trials. I wanted to share these clips anyway to show the many times we need to stuff up (mostly human error) before we can get things right. Enjoy the process! 💕

Koa has loved agility level one this term at Geelong Obedience. We can’t wait to continue next year and see where it takes us. She is certainly a natural 💕

We also warmed up with some obedience work as she was a little distracted when we first arrived 💛

Koa and I had a little play on the equipment while we were waiting our turn for staff photos at Bellarine Vets today. It was a fun way to warm up and Koa had fun and did brilliantly in her super model photo 😜💕⭐️

Miss madam is a less obedient than Koa as you can see, but she is a lots more punchy with the determination and enthusiasm. She didn’t think twice about going through the tunnel, although obviously she does think twice about waiting for commands and prefers to do whatever the hell she likes 😂 #bullterrierxkelpie #littlemisslottie🐾 #agiltytraining #dogtrainingfun

Koa and I started beginners agility for term three but with all the lock downs we have only been able to attend 3 sessions. So we though we would get some backyard agility happening. Koa was a little worried by the collapsing tunnel to start with but with encouragement from treats in the tunnel and me holding the end steady we are building her confidence. 🌊Koa and I are luckily enough to live in Ocean Grove so we get to do our beach runs within our 5km zone limit. 🌞Beautiful weather today for a run. What’s you favourite spot to take your dog in your 5km zone? 😢Sadly with current restrictions we are still not allowed to run the business or do anything in person. We are really hoping everyone is doing the right thing so we can get back to seeing our lovely clients in person soon and get back to training. It so hard for small businesses right not being able to work unless it’s online. Having the beach to run on so close to home makes us realised how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place. Interesting experience with the 3 different dogs tonight. Illy (13) cattle dog cross wasn’t sure how to do it to start but after I showed him once or twice who to use his paw he was fine. Lottie (3.5) bull terrier x Kelpie didn’t need help. Looked at me with a look that said “too easy” and got it instantly. Koa (3) a high drive super anxious Koolie x border collie got very worried and I had to sit with her for 5-10 mins. She doesn’t like it if I help her use her paw, I had to be very patient. She stood back and barked at it to see if that would work and then just sat and stared at me. I showed her a few times and eventually got her using her paw, but it was a process. Interestingly I would say Koa is the smartest of the 3 dogs. She takes direction beautifully and loves to work. But she is crap at shaping. Lottie on the other hand know her own mind and isn’t a “biddable” dog, but she is confident and loves to work too. I did some shaping earlier with a target object (a jar lid) and Lottie got it straight away. Koa took much longer and then got a bit suspicious of the object and then we had to change lids because one of the lids made her anxious 😂 (I don’t know maybe she doesn’t like yellow).

When mum forgets to defrost the dog meat (bad mum), we find a way to make the dry food more interesting by getting the dogs to work for their dinner. I love this puzzle toy. It wasn’t expensive but pretty solid and great for a bit of brain work #myboyilly #foodpuzzlesfordogs #canineenrichment #nilf

Our Story

Welcome to Sandy Paws Bellarine. My name is Kate Robinson and I studied with National Dog Trainers Federation from 2011-2012 and am fully qualified with my Certificate III in Dog Behaviour & Training. I have my pet first aid certificate and like to keep up to date with new training methods by attending regular seminars. I worked in Melbourne for 5 years on a daily basis walking dogs, taking classes and helping people in their homes when needed before moving to Ocean Grove in 2016 and starting up Sandy Paws.

I offer one on one consultations and love working people and their dogs to help them get the best results. One of my favourite parts of my job is helping owners learn how to train their dogs themselves.

With years of experience running classes I am excited that we are now offering group classes in Point Lonsdale in collaboration with Sophie from Pawfect Earth. Our Pawfect Paws Classes can be found here at https://www.facebook.com/Pawfectpawsbellarine/notifications/

I also offer group walks and one on one training walks. The dogs get to go adventures to the beach or parks with their friends or for those who are more suited for training walks we work on their manners and any other issues to help making walking more enjoyable for everyone.
