I've been very lucky to have a large flock of Red Tailed Black Cockatoos roosting just across the road from our house. I've spent lots of time watching them and their interactions with one another. They are such large birds, and they have so much character to go with it. Those with yellow feathers amongst the black of their bodies are females and juveniles. The Male Cockatoos don't have these yellow feathers, and they also only have red in their tail feathers rather than a mix of the orange yellow and red.

Midnight Blues depicts a curtain of hanging Silver Gum Princess branches. A family of Splendid Blue wrens forage and weave through the branches of the tree, looking for insects. You'll notice the different members of this family are a mix of Bright Blue Males, Females with an orange beak, and orange around the eyes and the Juveniles, Grey with a blue wing.

Two Silver Eyes bounce along a branch one after the other. I love the way they watch me from afar, tilting their heads back and forth. I snapped a photo just as the bird on the left looked over its shoulder to check on me. A beautiful bird, bright yellow against the grey green leaves of the bushland out near Armadale, Perth.

White-Cheeked Honeyeater

This Artwork ended up being unintentionally Christmas themed with this beautiful native plant looking a little like Christmas Holly. The White-Cheeked Honeyeater is often confused with the New Holland Honeyeater. Very similar in colour, the two only really have some minor differences. The biggest is the eyes, the white-cheeked honeyeater has black eyes and the New Holland has white.
You'll also notice the large white areas on the cheeks of the White-Cheeked Honeyeater are much larger.

Ellis Brook Reserve, located just east of Perth is where I was finally able to find a family of the incredible Bright Red Red Eared Firetails. From a distance you wouldn't recognise the unique markings on its side, white spots amidst the black feathers. They forage across the forest floor as a group, and as this one perched momentarily on a low hanging branch I snapped a shot. Framed by the unique leaves of this native plant.

This piece is my first featuring the Double Barred Finch, a unique Australian bird found in the Hills of Perth Western Australia. I was blown away when I first spotted a family of the finches. In particular I love the black wings with little white spots. A unique and rare find, I had to give this beautiful bird a home in one of my artworks. This native plant is another unique beauty, it's leaves shaped like tiny love hearts. It felt the perfect place for this sweet little finch to perch herself.

The Pink and Grey galahs are one of my favourite characters of the Bird World. Their vibrant pink and grey plumages, a contrast against the hues of the Australian bush, are a sight to behold. Michelle’s Story
It was at a very early age that I realised I had a soft spot for animals. I have always been so intrigued by their personalities, their movements and their individual characteristics. It didn’t take long for me to merge my love for animals with my love for art, and I began painting wildlife and pet portraits.
My drive to keep creating comes from a desire to capture the essence of these beautiful creatures before they disappear and to share these unique celebrations of life with others. If I could honor every creature on canvas I would, and hopefully one day I can achieve just that.
With a love for textures, composition and colour my works are often recognisable by the soft brush strokes of pastel colors contrasted against the clear representations of the subject.
I hope to create artworks that allow you as a collector to take with you a piece of nature, a reminder of what beauty our earth entails and a reminder of its vulnerability. My artworks aim to reflect a world of liberty, and instill a sense of calm, hope and purity.
When purchasing a piece from me, in particular an original artwork, you’re buying more than just an object. You’re purchasing a labour of love created from a place of joy.
