Like humans, animals can suffer from osteoarthritis (commonly known as arthritis). And, as with humans, it doesn’t just impact the elderly. Younger pets can also suffer from this incredibly painful condition.
So, what exactly is osteoarthritis? As the name suggests, ‘osteo’ refers to bone, and ‘itis’ refers to inflammation. A degenerative disease, it progressively gets worse over time if left untreated.
Osteoarthritis affects 1 in 5 dogs, and its prevalence increases as dogs age. It’s therefore highly likely your dog has or will get arthritis. Symptoms tend to reveal themselves later in life, but what ‘later’ means depends on the individual dog.
So keep this in mind, if you haven’t had the opportunity to implement joint care from a young age – the earlier you intervene, the better the outcomes in slowing or repairing damage, and supporting quality of life. If you need help identifying the signs of ageing joints, give us a call!
So, what can you do?
We recommend 4CYTE™ EPIITALIS® FORTE in dogs from six months of age to protect cartilage, preventing the joint disease process.
It works by:
✔ Reducing inflammatory chemicals responsible for joint pain
✔ Protecting cartilage through cartilage cell replication
✔ Preventing joint structure degradation caused by chronic inflammation.
Your dog may benefit in the long run by feeling great and enjoying the best possible quality of life, for longer. So don't wait for the symptoms of arthritis to appear - by then, joint disease is usually well advanced. 4Cyte has a money back guarantee, so if you wanted to try it today you can be in the draw to win a FREE 200ml gel bottle for your dog or FREE 50ml gel bottle for your cat!
This is just your weekly reminder to make sure your pet’s are up to date with Flea and Tick medication 😲
We just pulled this adult tick off a Nala's eyelid. Lucky for the Nala, this tick would have just latched on as it was not engorged, and the Nala was well. This scary encounter is an import reminder that is Brisbane. Our pets need tick prevention all year round!
Possums can carry paralysis ticks without having symptoms of paralysis. Paralysis ticks use our native wildlife as vessels to travel to new locations and find new hosts. Anywhere that possums are around, there will certainly be ticks!
With so many medications on the market for flea and tick treatment, it can get confusing. If you need any help deciding which suits your pet best, feel free to call our lovely nurses on 3279 3999 ☎️
As an added bonus, when you purchase a flea and tick product from us, we will send you a text reminder when it is next due 😊
Just a dog.
From time to time people tell me “chill out, it’s just a dog” or “it’s a lot of money just for a dog.” They don't understand the distance traveled, the time invested, or the costs incurred by "just a dog".
Some of my proudest moments have occurred with “just a dog.”
Many hours have passed being my only company "just a dog", but not for one moment did I feel despised. Some of my saddest moments have been because of “just a dog,” and on those gray days, the gentle touch of “just a Dog” gave me comfort and the reason to get through the day.
If you also think “it’s just a dog”, then you’ll probably understand phrases like “just a friend”, “just a sunrise” or “just a promise.” “Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure unbridled joy. “Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
For "just a dog" I will get up early, take long walks and look forward to the future. So for me and people like me, it’s not “just a dog,” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the memories of the past, and the absolute joy of the moment. “Just a dog” brings out the good in me and takes my thoughts away from myself and daily worries.
I hope one day they can understand that it’s not “just a dog”, but the one that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human.” So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog”, just smile because they “just don’t get it”.

Happy International Dog Day 💕 (August 26th)
Lucy is waving in the weekend like 👋
If you need Vet care over the weekend we are open from 8am-1pm and still have some emergency appointments available! 🥳
Do you have time to brush your pets teeth every day? 🪥
We as humans generally brush our teeth twice a day and it is still recommended that we go to a dentist for a scale and polish every 6 months! 🦷
Did you know that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over three years of age have some form of dental disease? Dental disease can not only be painful and uncomfortable for pets, but the procedure to clean and remove teeth becomes more complicated and often more costly to treat the longer it is left untreated. Just as you look after your teeth to prevent plaque and dental disease, you must care for your pet's teeth too! 🦷
Starting TODAY, during the months of July and August we are running our Dental Campaign promotion. You can book your pet in for a FREE dental check with one of our nurses and receive a $100 discount if they require a dental procedure if it is preformed before August 31st.
Hurry, appointments are limited, call our team today on 3279 3999 ☎️ or email us on [email protected] 📧 for more information or a quote!
