Arrowfield Stud is located in the Segenhoe Valley in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. Arrowfield Stud was established in the mid-eighties and over the years has put its brand on several horses that later became major stallions: Flying Spur, Commands, Lion Hunter and – surely one of Australia’s best presents to New Zealand – Zabeel, sire of an exceptional 41 Group One winners. However, Arrowfield’s

greatest achievement so far is not a horse bred or raised on the farm, but instead a high class sprinter purchased by John Messara in England. That was Danehill, who did more than become a champion sire – he shaped the breed. He was quite possibly the best sire Australia has ever seen, or is ever likely to see. Some of the best horses to run in Arrowfield’s famous yellow-and-black-diamonds are the champion filly Miss Finland, and Group 1 winners Alinghi, Alverta (all three are now proud mothers living at Arrowfield) & Dundeel (very popular bloke on the Arrowfield stallion roster).
