🐍 Snake Season is Here: Keep Your Animals Safe! 🐍

Here’s what you need to know to keep your furry friends safe during snake season:

🅰️Stay Alert on Walks: When walking your dog, especially in bushland or near water sources, keep them on a lead and stay on clear, open paths. Avoid tall grass and rocky areas where snakes may be hiding.

🚫Snake-Proof Your Yard: Keep your garden tidy by mowing the lawn regularly, removing excess debris, and sealing gaps under fences.

📍Know the Hot Spots: Be aware of areas that are known for snake activity, particularly during the warmer months. If you live near bushland or water, be extra cautious.

✅Training: Train your dog to avoid snakes. Commands like “leave it” can be lifesaving. There are also specialised snake avoidance training courses available.

🐾Be Prepared: Keep your vet’s contact information handy and know the fastest route to your nearest emergency vet. Quick action is crucial if your pet is bitten.

What to Do if Your Pet is Bitten:

❗️Keep Calm: Try to keep your pet calm and still to slow the spread of venom.

🩺Seek Immediate Veterinary Care: Time is of the essence. Get your pet to a vet as quickly as possible, even if they seem to recover after the initial collapse.
