Pawprint Dog Training is owned and run by Belinda Petchell and I am a Delta qualified canine trainer. I train without using force, coercion or intimidation with positive reinforcement methods. Ethical and humane training is very important to me, as it is to the animals that I train. Pawprint Dog Training operates in south-west Sydney covering the Macarthur, Wollondilly and Liverpool regions. I have obedience/good manners classes for dogs and puppies, puppy preschool as well as in-home training.

Benefits of Enrichment Activities

Enrichment activities can improve the well-being of animals by satisfying their natural needs. This is not only beneficial for pets but is also widely used in zoos to promote natural behaviors and stimulate animals mentally and physically. In this post we are going to look at a few easy and affordable enrichment activities.

1. Treasure hunt is an activity where food or toys are hidden in a designated area for pets to search and find. It promotes natural instincts and provides mental stimulation and physical exercise.

2. Scent games and exploring walks utilize a pet's sense of smell to search for hidden items or explore new surroundings. It provides mental stimulation and exercise.

3. Puzzle toys, Kong, Lickimat, and natural chews provide mental stimulation and a long-lasting treat. Lickimat can also have a calming effect on pets, and natural chews can promote dental health.

4. Calm massage, grooming and swimming provide relaxation, stress relief, physical exercise, and mental stimulation for pets. These activities can also strengthen the bond between pet and owner.

5. Shredding cardboard boxes and safe objects provide mental stimulation and can be a fun way for pets to release excess energy.

6. Playing calm music or nature sounds can reduce stress and anxiety in pets, promoting a relaxing atmosphere for them to nap or rest in.

I’m excited to announce that I have a new location for Baby Puppy classes. I’ll be running puppy classes from Camden Valley Animal Hospital, Narellan, a Certified Fear Free clinic 👍
The final puppy class for this year will be starting Nov 30. Get in quick!

Actually feels like lockdown is over now...classes have been scheduled and filling fast and in-home training commences from next week. It's been a long 100+ days and I'm glad to be back!

Puppy play! 💕 Next Pawprint Puppy School Class starts Thu 12 July at 7:30pm in Campbelltown.

I took a variety of feeding devices to show a client with her pup, Stevie (Labradoodle). I thought he would like the Kong Wobbler and I wasn’t wrong.

Final classes for 2017. Level 1-Obedience Program: Sat 11 Nov at 3:30pm or Tue 21 Nov at 7:00pm Baby Puppy Program: Thu 2 Nov at 7:30pm or Mon 13 Nov at 7:30pm.

The beach came to us today. Took my dogs to a local oval and it was covered in sand. They thought it was way more fun than boring old patchy grass 😀
