This poor little soul was surrendered by members of the public that found her and thought it would be "cute" to take her home and play with her.
After an undisclosed amount of time they realised she was dying. They had had their fun so it was time to move her on and let her become someone else's "problem" so they didn't need to see her die.
Whatever they were feeding her was incorrect and even if it was, she wasn't getting enough.
Joeys need a very special formula as they are lactose intolerant.
She was emaciated, dehydrated, scouring and her smell filled the room.
She DID NOT deserve this!
Not only had she lost her mum but the abuse that followed eventually killed her.
How many times do wildlife carers have to scream: "IF YOU FIND INJURED OR ORPHANED WILDLIFE, PLEASE HAND THEM ONTO A CARER OR VET ASAP."
They are not toys. They are living, breathing, feeling souls that deserve kindness and respect.
It's hard to remain neutral when you see little people like this. I get so angry.
May the fleas of 1000 camels infest the armpits of those that did this to her.
I will call her "Glitter" so I can tell you that Glitter passed away not long after being handed to Dr Mark for help.
For a short time she was handled with care and everyone present sent her waves of love.
If you know of someone that is keeping wildlife illegally, do that animal a favour and report them anonymously to Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000
Thank you Tamara Kenneally Photography for this sad, yet confronting image
