"Surprisingly, the researchers found that participants who subjectively rated themselves as more "knowledgeable and experienced" with regards to cats were more likely to touch areas of the cat's body they typically find uncomfortable, such as the base of the tail and the tummy."

For a cat, play is a very important part of their routine.
However, there is a right way to play, and a wrong way. Today I’m going to tell you one thing you definitely shouldn’t do.
Playing with your cat with your body parts (hands, feet etc) is absolutely something to avoid. That means no roughhousing, no playfully batting them around, no footsies under the blanket.
Why? It’s simple behavioural science. Playing with your cat or kitten is highly rewarding for them. If you use your body parts, it means that next time they want to play, they are going to go for your body parts, whether you are ready for it or not!
Unfortunately, many cats are re-homed, medicated or euthanised for ‘human-directed aggression’, which a lot of the time is simply just misdirected play behaviour that they were taught to do!
It’s much better (and safer) to use a wand-type toy for play, and to start this from a young age.
