Heads up - predicted temp of 37 tomorrow in Brissie

🥵Hot weather warning🥵

It’s going to be a warm one tomorrow in Brisbane with prediction of 37 degrees maximums.

Please keep your pets cool. If you heading out add a couple of extra water bowls, ensure shade or indoor access.

Skip any walks until it has cooled right down.

And make yourself aware of heat stress signs and basic first aid.

Symptoms of hyperthermia include:

☀️ Excessive and noisy panting
☀️ Laboured respiration
☀️ Increased respiration and heart rate
☀️ Bright red tongue and pale gums
☀️ Thick sticky drool
☀️ Weakness
☀️ Collapse
☀️ Seizures
☀️ Vomiting and diarrhoea (sometimes with blood).

What to do if your dog shows these signs:

🚑 Bring the dog inside, and away from the heat source (for example car).

🚑 Cool your dog down
- Poor cool water (not ice water) over the dog’s head/body and groin
- Drape wet towels over your dog

🚑 Contact your vet or afterhours emergency vet immediately

So much enthusiasm, but it seems he forgot the ball

Sometimes it's best to work with a young dog before their reactivity becomes harder to handle. Eppy's enthusiasm for other dogs was making her difficult to manage. Her owners have done the work and as a result her reactivity has been minimised. Thanks also goes out to Ziggy who is her decoy in this process.

Training is really about filling the communication gap between dogs and the people that love them. At Doggy Dogma, the aim is to teach people about their dogs as well as teaching dogs what we expect of them. We work with all ages of dogs, from puppies through to adolescents up to seniors.
