When we were at Just Equus Boot Camp last August, we were working on control at the walk. Walk fast, slow, stop, back up etc. As we progressed I started to do the same with the trot.
Circumstances made me have the last 3 months off, but we were working on control at the trot & walk.
I was on my first trail ride for 3 months on Sunday & had the opportunity to practice this. The video was too long to send but 2 of our group went for a canter. I was having a trot with a couple of others when they decided to stop, so I was sort of in no mans land with horses out front & horses behind.
So I did trot to walk transitions to see if she’d listen & she did!!!! She listened so well 💖💖💖 we did 3 trot to walk transitions before this video starts. A couple of strides of canter came into the trot but she came back to the trot when I asked her too. The last bit I asked for canter with my seat & she stayed in the canter, no galloping off & came back to the trot & walk when I asked her too!!!

A video and little update for Pete.
Dusty was amazing, we did ground work, we worked at him waiting at the mounting block for me, he was so relaxed I hopped on and went for a slow walk around. We then popped into a trot and he was relaxed and happy! I’m so proud of Dusty!
Then something awesome happened. I took his saddle and bridle off as he loves rolling in the sand. First I wanted to stretch his legs a bit. I picked up his front leg to give it a little stretch and I felt him lean back and then he lay down for me!
I got such a surprise, he stood back up and I gave him a rub, then he went for a little walk and roll.
Thanks to you all for helping to get me here! 🤠”
