📌IMPORTANT MICROCHIP UPDATE📌

There has been recent updates advising that the Microchip Company Home Safe ID will no longer be active.

✨What can you do to make sure your pets Microchips details are available in the case your pet is lost and requires scanning by a Vet, Council or Animal Shelter to be reunited?

🐾 Confirm the company your pets microchip is registered with at petadress.com.au
🐾 If your pets' details are registered with Home Safe ID, they will need to be Re-Registered with an alternative microchip company.

Some of the more common company's include, www.aar.org.au or www.car.com.au

Microchip registration forms can be found on their website

🐾If your pets details are registered with another company other than Home Safe ID not changes are required

🐾If you are unsure of your pets microchip information, please call the clinic to make an appointment with one of our nurses to check your pets microchip information on 9798 7274

The Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) is a core pillar of the RAS, operating since 1989, through which we seek to support and protect lost pets to return them to their owners.

Hot and humid weather can make dogs more prone to developing hotspots!
Pyohex Medicated Shampoo is an aid in the treatment of superficial dermatitis associated with infections by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius in dogs🐶
REASONS FOR BACTERIAL SKIN INFECTIONS:
The majority of skin infection cases in dogs are due to underlying conditions which allow the low numbers of normal bacterial residents to overgrow and cause disease.
UNDERLYING CAUSES FOR BACTERIAL INFECTIONS:
🌼Allergies: pollen, grass, food, fleas
⚖️Hormonal problems (including Cushing’s disease and hypothyroidism)
🔬Parasitic infestations
In an active infection we recommend bathing twice a week with Pyohex Medicated Shampoo and once every 1-2 weeks for maintenance or as directed by your veterinarian. Pyohex Medicated Conditioner should be used after bathing to prolong the antibacterial action and moisturise the skin and coat.

A pile of glistening, shiny Christmas presents sitting under the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree are charming, heartwarming… and apparently delicious to many unwise cats at this time of year!

Many cats are tempted by long, curly, shiny ribbons and will play with them. A few of those will chew and swallow ribbon or string, resulting in a potentially devastating linear foreign body in the intestine!

A linear foreign body is worse than a rounded foreign body, as it will often thread through the intestines, causing the gut to bunch up around it, like pulling a drawstring through the edge of a pair of pants. The ribbon may then cut through the intestine, and often requires multiple surgical incisions to remove safely.

Symptoms of a linear foreign body include: vomiting, not wanting to eat, lethargy, and generally being severely unwell.

Ribbon, tinsel, string and similar shaped objects can all become linear foreign bodies if eaten. Using broader, thicker ribbon means it is less likely to be eaten by your curious cat, but some cats are simply too tempted to be around ribbon at all.

If you have any concerns please phone us on 9798 7274 to see either one of our nurses or vets.
