Last week ALPHA BOARDING KENNELS staff sadly said farewell to one of our trainers who is moving on, and as part of a celebratory luncheon we decided to have a photo shoot with all our staff dogs (lol no photos of any of the humans) and here’s a little footage of the end of the photoshoot. Notice towards the end, one dog is called out by her human, and the rest hold their drop without flinching.

Alpha Boarding School For Dogs: Lunchtime funtime - The trainers at ABSFD often visit the ponies at lunchtime whilst their dogs run and play in the paddocks. Not all the dogs were initially sociable or confident with the ponies and sheep, but through effective training and socialisation strategies they can run free and have heaps of fun together! Another great example of Alpha profesional trainers "Leading By Example" with their own dogs.

We have so much fun in our Perfect Start Puppy Classes. Meet Louie the 10 Wk old Cavoodle. He's already learned to sit, step away and mind his manners. He's also so very very cute, that we decided to film him in between exercises because he made us laugh so much.
We run these 2 free introductory classes on Saturday mornings at The Alpha Canine Centre for pups 9wks or older who have had their 1st vaccination.

Level 4 is the Advanced preparation level and owners refine their handling and communication skills in distracting situations. Some of these dogs started with us as puppies and others as adolescent or adults. Some are just cheeky, some are nervous/fearful and others had aggression issues, but the more you train and the higher you go, the more manageable, safe and confident they become through your clear and positive leadership.

ALPHA DOG TRAINING: Canine Social Rehabilitation Sessions
Exclusive to dogs that have been trained with Alpha's methods - The Canine Leadership System - used by Alpha Dog Training, Alpha Boarding School For Dogs and The 4 Day Fast-Track Course.
The classes focus on enhancing the language process established through Leadership Obedience Exercises and Canine Good Behaviour Shaping (manners), enabling owners to guide their dogs through specific socialisation exercises practiced in group and one-to-one scenarios.
The minimum standard for those who are attending weekly obedience classes with Alpha is Level 3. We expect that you have been practicing the 1 hour DROP Step-away exercise and are attending regular weekly classes.With dogs attending from boarding school or the 4 day course we also expect that you have been working on the 1 hour DROP Step-away.
This is a new service, but the results have been excellent so far and many of the dogs have shown rapid improvement in their social skills.

ALPHA DOG TRAINING: 4 Day Fast-Track Course
The 4 Day Fast-Track Course offers owners an alternative to Alpha's other training services, such as weekly Canine Leadership & Communication Classes, One-On-One Sessions and Boarding School For Dogs. Each service will suit owners for different reasons, including time required to train the dog, cost, distance to travel to classes etc. The course has become popular for interstate dog owners who are unable to find practical and effective training methods in their home towns.
This video gives an insight to the training process on the 4 day course and the standards achieved. As with all training approaches offered by The Alpha Canine Group, the course is a starting point for the establishment of a more positive relationship between the owner and their dog, based on positive leadership and trust. The focus of the course is to give owners the practical skills and understanding to guide their dogs through training and any rehabilitation needs of living in our human world once they settle back into the home environment.
On the course owners learn to read their dogs behaviour and how to positively reinforce or interrupt obedience and behavioural choices, in the moment, as they occur. The introduction to off-lead control on day 3 gives owners a very real understanding of what can be achieved by following the common-sense methods being taught. The different tones of praise established during the first 3 exercises taught on the very first training session form a fundamental language that will remain consistent in every interaction with the dog from that point onwards.
