Safety Advice
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Weather Situation
Maximum temperatures over eastern districts in the low to mid thirties, increasing to the mid to high thirties by the middle of the week. Overnight minimum temperatures over eastern districts in the high teens to low twenties. Maximum temperatures over inland districts in the low to high thirties, increasing to the high thirties to mid forties by the middle of the week. Overnight minimum temperatures over inland districts in the low to mid twenties, increasing to the mid to high twenties by the middle of the week. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to build over broad areas of southern and central Queensland this week and persist until at least the weekend. Severe heatwave conditions have eased over the Herbert and Lower Burdekin and North Tropical Coast and Tablelands districts, however are expected to return later this week.
