Our beautiful miss Battylicious.
My heart is breaking 💔 Tomorrow we go to SASH in Sydney to see if they can remove a cancerous tumour that is blocking Batty's nasal passages and impacting her ability to breath and in turn eat and drink.
We started this journey 3 yrs ago when we were told she only had 6 weeks to live after receiving her cancer diagnosis and have cherished every moment together since, however it doesn't make tomorrow and her need for surgery any less scary and I am breaking at the thought of the worst of coming home without her 💔
Edit: Thank you everyone for your healing thoughts and prayers. Batty has made the four hour journey to SASH and we are just waiting to see the surgical vet. Her breathing has gotten worse and she has had a blood nose along the way but hoping they can help her 🙏
Update: Batty is currently at SASH and is having IV fluids to help her get her strength back to be able to have an anaesthetic tomorrow. At this stage they are looking at doing a rhinoscopy and removing what tissue there is blocking her nasal passageways if it is safe for them to do so as it could cause a haemorrhage. A new histopathology will get done feom what tissue they can remove as they are not sure if it is cancer returned or something different given she has survived 3yrs without medical intervention for a cancer that is supposedly aggressive.
I feel very emotional and confused by it all but just pray miss Batty returns home to us safely 🙏 ❤️
Update: Batty made it through surgery. She did become a little hypothermic following surgery but has recovered well.
The surgeon didn't remove the mass entirely and I am not sure really as to why, I was just told they wanted a new pathology and would come up with a plan for further treatment from there. This is not the process I was expecting or happened when the last mass was removed but I am just thankful that Batty is now home and breathing a little easier. Thankyou everyone for you healing words and prayers and I will keep everyone updated once we know how to move forward with helping our Batty ❤️
Progress update: just wanted to let everyone know that miss Batty has some appetite back and had her breakfast this morning and is drinking a good amount of fluids. Her breathing still isn't great but she has been put on prednisolone tablets to see if that reduces some inflammation to enable the removal of some more of the mass. I will keep everyone updated on her progress and the results of the new histopathology once we receive it ❤️🙏
