Fun facts about linen 🌾

◽️ Linen begins life as as the flax plant, a blue flowering plant which is harvested only 100 days after sowing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◽️ Linen is one of the oldest fabrics in the world - dating back more than 4000 years ago.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◽️ It’s very strong, absorbent, dries quicker than cotton, and is hypoallergenic (meaning that even the most sensitive skinned people and pets can wear it). It’s also naturally insect repellant!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◽️ The flax plant requires fewer pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides than cotton (as you may know, non-organic cotton is one of the dirtiest crops in the world). The flax plant also uses less energy and water than cotton, and it improves the soil it grows in.

◽️ There is very little waste due to the whole plant being used. Besides the fibre used to make fabric, you can make soap, paper, straw, oil, and linseed of the flax plant.
