Margot the Aussie Shepherd was the perfect patient for Dr. Sophie today🥰😍😍
Did you know… as per the Victorian Vetboard guidelines we need to see your pet every 6 months if they are on prescription medication. They aren’t able to tell us when something doesn’t feel right, and age at a far greater rate than we do as humans, so a lot can change in 6 months!
Swipe ➡️to see some pearly whites post clean! At Reservoir Vet we generally perform our dentals in 2 stages. The first procedure is a thorough scale and polish and complete mouth X-rays, much the same as when you go to the dentist. But under general anaesthetic! Because we don’t brush our dog or cats teeth daily, they are highly susceptible to dental disease, and this is where the second procedure or stage 2 occurs. A few weeks post the original clean, we get your pet back in if extractions are required. This reduces the pets time under anaesthetic and gives you a better guide of cost for the stage 2. Our hope is that one day there is enough awareness around dental disease in pets, that we no longer need the stage 2, and can just perform regular scale and polishes so your pet can keep all of their teeth! If you have any questions regarding dental care for your pet, our team of vets & nurses are always happy to discuss with you!! We are passionate about healthy mouths! 👄
Isn’t Mr P the biggest s***k in his goggles?! 👓 Mr Pickles belongs to one of our beautiful nurses, and is undergoing laser therapy and hydro therapy for his slipped disk and pain. Sometimes we aren’t able to get the results we want from just traditional management and prescription medications. In this case it meant referring Mr P to an animal physiotherapist to try our best to get him as comfortable as possible!
⭐️ ATTENTION ⭐️ Reservoir vet clinic will be closing at 5pm on Friday the 9th of February due to staff shortages. Thank you for your understanding 🐾

ABANDONING ANIMALS!
Unfortunately, this morning our staff arrived to find a sick kitten at our door. The kitten was left without food, water, or air circulation in the box in was left in.
Please DO NOT dump animals at our front door. There are many safe and humane ways to surrender an animal. There are clinics that are opened 24/7 if you’re not able to surrender the animal during business hours and our staff will always do our best to help you or direct you to appropriate alternatives if needed.
The kitten is now safe and receiving the care it needs ❤️

| ATTENTION ALL FELINE OWNERS| 🐈 🐈⬛
We are currently experiencing a world wide shortage of cat vaccines. So at this stage we will not be taking bookings for vaccinations for cats. We are still uncertain when to expect more stock. We apologise for the inconvenience and if you have any questions feel free to give the clinic a call on 94710155.
Coming to the vet is stressful for all animals. We do everything we can to keep them as happy and stress free as possible. We found Eleni on the floor with Lexi this week, because that’s where she felt the safest ☺️ Lexi can get easily overwhelmed, and seemed to take to Eleni quite quickly. So we left the two of them along to get her clipped up and numbed for her catheter!

Fledgling season is here!
Did you know, baby birds are kicked out of the nest when they are still fluffy, to learn the ways of the world and how to fly from the ground up?! 🦅 This means you will start to see a lot of baby birds around. They are usually still fluffy, with a few feathers, move around awkwardly if at all, and sometimes vocalise. Do not worry! Their parents are always close by and watching. Bringing in baby birds actually lowers their chances of thriving in the wild, as they need their parents to teach them. This does mean they may be near busy roads or parks, as unfortunately this is the world they will live in. This cutie pictured we called Rhonda! She came in with some injuries to her tail and needed some TLC from Tess and Racheal to get her ready for a wildlife carer. Where she will be raised and fingers crossed, one day released.
