A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity which was started in 2018 on a property in Banjup as a way to help homeless animals, many of which were saved from abuse or neglect. From humble beginnings when they adopted dogs and rabbits, to their first farm animal and native animals. Their aim is to provide care and rehabilitation for animals without owners especially those who are sick o

r injured. Later on came Phoebe, a two-day old (1-kilogram) piglet who was left in a cardboard box at a zoo entry. Next was Tommy the calf who was rescued from a salesyard, and The Addams family flock of sheep who needed a new home. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is now set on a 200-acre property near York in the wheatbelt and while they don’t have the funds to adopt every animal, they also help with finding new homes through their adoption program. They have been able to find more good homes for animals through this program than they would have alone, as the numbers of animals that need new homes is sadly immense. While primarily they provide a home for farm animals, they have also adopted native animals, dogs and rabbits, as well as sheep, rams, cows, pigs, alpacas, goats, chickens, roosters, and more. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is committed to giving farm animals a new, better life. Many of the animals who they have found a forever home were saved from abuse or neglect, while others were simply unwanted or abandoned. As a registered charity all their funds go back into the direct care and rehabilitating orphaned or sick and injured animals. They hope to educate and raise awareness of living a conscious, ethical life that excludes the exploitation of animals. It is our mission to care for animals, and provide them with a life worth living, but feed costs, vet bills, bedding and other costs are expensive so please donate. We are huge fans of our friends at Alt-tech. Thank you again for your donation of 'ugly' solar panels to finish putting direct solar fans in the remainder of the animals enclosures.

These fans are literal lifesavers for some of our residents. They help the animals cool off in the heat, give them some much needed relief from the flies and mosquitoes, and help keep shelters dryer and more hygienic.

We have a busy bee and online seminar on setting up these solar fans coming up soon! Watch this space!

Bad news for Cluck Norris. He has a suspicious looking growth on his foot which has not healed. Sadly he will need an xray and biospy which will cost $500 upwards. Cluck has been with us at least 5 years since we lived in Banjup. He lost his girlfriend this week as well. If you could help with vet costs that would be much amazing 👏 🤩

Currently we are facing a shortage of regular, weekly, and monthly helpers, causing us to fall behind on essential chores and tasks. We're also on the lookout for dedicated individuals willing to volunteer or live on-site, with accommodation to be provided. We will be organizing friendly volunteer inductions and busy bees for those that are not too familiar with the work that goes on at the sanctuary, so please enquire within. 🆘🙋‍♂
If you or someone you know has a passion for caring for animals, and can commit to helping out around 140 animals at A Better Life Animal sanctuary a registered charity in Western Australia, please reach out to us. The sanctuary homes pigs and sheep, alpacas, goats, lambs, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits to horses and cows, plus everything in between 🫏🐂🐓🐇🐐🐖🐕🦙🐏🪿🐈 Your dedication can make a significant impact on the lives of these beautiful creatures.
If residing on-site isn't feasible due to work or family commitments, we also welcome regular volunteers, even if it's just for a weekend every month. Every contribution makes a significant impact, and we may be able to provide accommodation as well in the 3 bedroom colonial-style homestead.. Basic free food will be provided. There is Starlink internet connection for anyone who works or studies remotely and the house is air conditioned and maximum work is 5 hours per day.

Basic tasks include feeding and medicating animals, cleaning water troughs and paddock / sanctuary maintenance Additional projects include helping with constructing and repairing shelters, and implementing animal enrichment projects [email protected] 🙏🏻❤️🆘 And Please don't forget to share this post! Flashback: Ramsey, Mavis, Robert and Raymond (RIP). When lambs are first introduced to the sheep herd they spend most their day by the gate hoping to be let out so they can go back to the house.

This has happened with every single orphan lamb we have raised. Some habits are hard to change even for animals 🥲🥲🥲

Bird gang didn't ask for fireworks or a late night for new Year's Eve, but a celebratory salad went down well with the ducks! (A little bird told me that Speedy and baby rooster gang are planning a secret midnight disco, but we will see what develops)

Gracara got her pool noodles off however Socrates's didn't and he's for some reason super angry at the rams for it 🤣🤣🤣

Thankyou so much to everyone who donated for Skye's treatment. We have some amazing news, he is back home. 😁😁😁 Unfortunately he's still very unwell requiring medication 4 times per day and us not always happy to eat. Skye needed blood from other pigs to pull through from Pablo (who needs a home if anyone knows of one) and his brother Kylo Ren.
