A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity which was started in 2018 on a property in Banjup as a way to help homeless animals, many of which were saved from abuse or neglect. From humble beginnings when they adopted dogs and rabbits, to their first farm animal and native animals. Their aim is to provide care and rehabilitation for animals without owners especially those who are sick o

r injured. Later on came Phoebe, a two-day old (1-kilogram) piglet who was left in a cardboard box at a zoo entry. Next was Tommy the calf who was rescued from a salesyard, and The Addams family flock of sheep who needed a new home. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is now set on a 200-acre property near York in the wheatbelt and while they don’t have the funds to adopt every animal, they also help with finding new homes through their adoption program. They have been able to find more good homes for animals through this program than they would have alone, as the numbers of animals that need new homes is sadly immense. While primarily they provide a home for farm animals, they have also adopted native animals, dogs and rabbits, as well as sheep, rams, cows, pigs, alpacas, goats, chickens, roosters, and more. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is committed to giving farm animals a new, better life. Many of the animals who they have found a forever home were saved from abuse or neglect, while others were simply unwanted or abandoned. As a registered charity all their funds go back into the direct care and rehabilitating orphaned or sick and injured animals. They hope to educate and raise awareness of living a conscious, ethical life that excludes the exploitation of animals. It is our mission to care for animals, and provide them with a life worth living, but feed costs, vet bills, bedding and other costs are expensive so please donate. 🆘🌟🐾🌱 Urgent Help Needed at A Better Life Animal Sanctuary 🌱🐮🐷❤️
Our sanctuary is in urgent need of volunteers to join us on-site including:-

* Live-in Volunteers & Weekend Volunteers 🏘❤🎤
* Regular Single-Day Volunteers & Volunteer Inductions ❤🧐🆘
* Busy Bee Volunteers (dates announced soon) 🐂🧐🤗

Currently we are facing a critical shortage of regular, weekly, and monthly helpers, causing us to fall behind on essential chores and tasks. We're also on the lookout for dedicated individuals willing to volunteer or live on-site, with accommodation to be provided. We will be organizing friendly volunteer inductions and busy bees for those that are not too familiar with the work that goes on at the sanctuary, so please enquire within. 🆘🙋‍♂

If you or someone you know has a passion for caring for animals, and can commit to helping out around 140 animals at A Better Life Animal sanctuary a registered charity in Western Australia, please reach out to us. The sanctuary homes pigs and sheep, alpacas, goats, lambs, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits to horses and cows, plus everything in between 🫏🐂🐓🐇🐐🐖🐕🦙🐏🪿🐈 Your dedication can make a significant impact on the lives of these beautiful creatures.

If residing on-site isn't feasible due to work or family commitments, we also welcome regular volunteers, even if it's just for a weekend every month. Every contribution makes a significant impact, and we may be able to provide accommodation as well in the 3 bedroom colonial-style homestead.. Basic free food will be provided. There is Starlink internet connection for anyone who works or studies remotely and the house is air conditioned and maximum work is 5hrs per day.

Basic tasks include feeding and medicating animals, cleaning water troughs and paddock / sanctuary maintenance Additional projects include helping with constructing and repairing shelters, implementing animal enrichment projects and establishing and maintaining pasture on the 200-acre property. ❤🐂🐷🙏

The experience should be an uplifting one, helping animals in need and if you wish we can provide references for future employment/sitting. We also would love to get back to adopting special need animals and re-homing, and badly need your help as we currently are past our capabilities. 🚜👩🏿‍🌾🤓

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."😥😥😥Today our beautiful boy found Skye found his wings after a long battle of over 6 weeks.

Skye our brave and resilient pig, passed away this morning. He was a fighter, having come back from the brink of death more than once and while his body eventually failed his spirit was truly something special. Although his time here was far too short, Skye knew he was loved deeply and found comfort near his sanctuary family in his final moments after an attempted reintroduction to his herd over the last few weeks. 🥹🥹🥹

Despite the challenges from some of the other pigs, Skye would often emerge from the tree line to see his siblings beside the fence: kylo ren, joey, kingsley and georgie seeking the warmth his birth siblings: . He taught us about resilience and the power of love, even in the face of hardship. Skye’s light will forever be a part of us, and his memory will inspire us to continue our mission of kindness and care for all beings. Rest in peace, Skye. You were loved beyond measure, and you will be always missed and cherished. From the scared little piglet to the tough boy who you grew up to be, you will be forever be in our hearts until too our last breath is taken. 😥😥🥹🥹

Skye pigs recovery has been nothing short of miraculous and he's ready now to be introduced back to his brothers and sisters.

Thankyou so much to everyone who donated for Skye's treatment. We have some amazing news, he is back home. 😁😁😁 Unfortunately he's still very unwell requiring medication 4 times per day and us not always happy to eat. Skye needed blood from other pigs to pull through from Pablo (who needs a home if anyone knows of one) and his brother Kylo Ren.

A Better Life Animal Sanctuary is a forever home for farm animals and others who have been rescued or adopted.
