It's been a scorching one today and temps this week will continue to hover over the 30-degree mark, peaking at the end of the week.

It is NEVER OK to leave your dog in the car – not even for “5 minutes while I duck into the shops”.

In temperatures like today’s, the temp inside the car can quickly rise to dangerous levels, and your dog can start to suffer from heatstroke. It is always better to leave your dog at home where there is shade and plenty of water, where you know that they will be safe. There are NO EXCUSES.

Here are some tips to keep your pet as cool as a cucumber this week! 🥒
🐾 If you are going out, leave your mate at home with plenty of shade and water available!
🐾 Make sure multiple bowls of water are available - you can even add some ice to cool it down!
🐾 Do not walk your pet in the heat of the day, keep walks for early mornings or evenings when the pavement has cooled down!
🐾 Bring your pets indoors if possible!
🐾 Provide a shell pool filled with water for your dog to cool themselves down!

If you see a dog in a hot car, note down the vehicle's registration number and location and report it immediately to the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 278 358 (1300 CRUELTY) or call WA Police on 000.

Had the pleasure of meeting Michelle from Desperate for Love Dog Pound Rescue today to give her the Kong toys from our December promotion, Play it Forward (thank you again to everyone who brought a Kong toy so we could donate another toy to a Dog Rescue) plus some other Christmas toys and treats I had lying around 😀 🐕 🐩 hopefully there will be hours of entertainment in your Hamper Michelle!!

BREED OF THE MONTH
FOR SEPTEMBER - LABRADOR

Here are some interesting facts about LABRADORS.

1. Labradors love water
All Labradors have webbed feet. It's what makes them such great swimmers!


2. Double coated for warmth
Labradors have a double coat made up of a glossy outer layer and a dense undercoat designed to keep them warm during the winter or when they go for a dip in icy water.


3. Brave and loyal
In 2002, a labrador named Endal won the PDSA Gold Medal for animal bravery. After Endal's owner passed out, the super pooch pulled his human into the recovery position, covered him with a blanket, and then went to get medical assistance!

As you can see, labradors are pretty amazing animals. They make great companions, excellent working dogs, and are more than willing to put themselves on the line for their favourite people. All they want in return is a full bowl of dog food every night and lots of love and snuggles! Now that's not a bad deal at all! 🥰
