6 years ago today I started Zed Pet. At the time, I was 21 and in my final year of Law School trying to find my place in the world. In the past 6 years there has been so much growth and change for myself and Zed Pet.

When I started, I had 1 sewing machine and 1 overlocker, a small amount of fabric and I cut out dog coats on the living room floor of my Mum's house.

Today, I have 2 industrial overlockers, 2 industrial sewing machines and an industrial coverstitch machine which all reside in a dedicated sewing room. I no longer cut everything out on the floor either, I have two large cutting tables which reside in my dedicated fabric room.

After finishing my law degree, I went on to be admitted to practice as a lawyer all the while continuing everything here. Earlier this year, I started working full-time in the legal profession.

The success of Zed Pet really comes down to all the people I have in my life who've helped me along the way and today I really want to thank two of them.

Firstly, my Mum who let me run a business from the living room floor, then the garage, then the garage and a bedroom as it grew.

Secondly, my wonderful husband who encourages and supports me every step of the way and this year has been spending his time after work and his weekends helping me pack orders and cut out coats and onesies.

I also want to thank every single person who has supported me over the past 6 years. Without you Zed Pet doesn't exist.

I have no idea what the future holds for me or Zed Pet, but I look forward to the years to come.

Last year, I was diagnosed with a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which means my joints bend in ways they shouldn't and are prone to injury. Last year was tough on me physically so this year I will be doing things a little differently.

I will still be taking custom orders, but I urge you to order early as wait times may be up to 4 weeks. I have hundreds of ready-made dog coats in sizes from 35cm to 85cm and onesies from 75cm to 85cm. Around 90% of dogs can fit my ready-made range as my sizes are based off the thousands of custom measurements I've collected over the past 5 years.

In previous years I've done 3 post office runs per week, this year I will only be doing 1 with the help of my husband which will be on a Saturday.

It is not yet clear what the future holds, but my commitment to producing high quality Australian made dog coats hasn't changed. I look forward to another year of making dog coats and onesies for your doggos.

After a fantastic honeymoon, it's back to reality. Thankyou for all your patience while I was away, I will be back to sewing tomorrow and I'm slowly making my way through messages and emails.

On Monday, I got married to the love of my life and we're currently away for our honeymoon. I will be back sewing on Monday 23rd of October.

I will be away for my wedding and honeymoon from Friday, 22 September until Friday 20 October 🥳. All current orders have been completed. Any orders placed from today (15 September) will not be made or posted until after I get back.

As it will be my honeymoon, I'll be spending time with my husband, I will not be checking messages, email, or webchat during this time. Any messages that come through will be dealt with after I get back.

Since day 1, I've been very conscious of the environmental impact of what I do. I really like that the fabric scraps that I can't use, can still be put to use.

We had too much fun today sorting through these lovely and useful fleece scraps kindly donated by Zed Pet Apparel!

We roughly sorted them into sizes to make some of our charity items and then sent the rest off to some of the kindergartens and daycare centres we support for creative play

It definitely feels like Christmas in July this morning! Half of next year's fabric has just arrived. I'm still waiting on another 9 parcels and once they arrive, sewing will start on the 2024 ready-made dog coat and onesie range.

With all the sewing last week, we've currently got over 300 dog coats and onesies in stock in our 19 sizes from 30cm to 85cm. Currently stock onesies are only in 75cm, 80cm and 85cm but I'm working hard to design smaller sizes. Custom Made coats and onesies have a 1 to 2 week turnaround time
