When NRHA Eight Million Dollar Rider Andrea Fappani walked Inferno Thirty Five (Inferno Sixty Six x Madeof Pure Spangled) out of the Ford Arena during the Invitational Open after marking a score of 225, the pair had secured the win of the Level 4 Invitational, earning $100,000 for owner Stephen Archer. Not only that, but it also cemented Inferno Sixty Six’s rank as the Leading Sire for the 2023 Invitational Reining, which was held as part of the 100X Reining Classic.

“Thank you to all the stallion owners who support the great programs in our industry, and especially the ones we held at the 100X Reining Classic, including the Invitational. Without the support from them, there would be fewer opportunities to compete for the life-changing money that is awarded each year,” said Carter Smith, owner of the 100X Reining Classic. “Congratulations to the connections of Inferno Sixty Six, whose offspring won the most money in the Invitational competition, and did so well in all the events in Tulsa.”

Inferno Sixty Six is the royally bred son of NRHA Ten Million Dollar Sire Gunnatrashya and NRHA Million Dollar Dam Snip O Gun. Owned by Slide Or Die LLC, Inferno Sixty Six earned more than $205,000 in his career, including an NRHA Futurity Reserve Championship with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Franco Bertolani.
In the Invitational competition alone, Inferno Sixty Six offspring earned $163,250. In addition to Inferno Thirty Five, he also sired Fappani’s fourth-place finisher, Infernnno (out of FS Smart Doc Chic), Hella Smart (out of Fille Code), who placed in the Invitational Non Pro Level 4 and Level 2, and Sixtysix Vaqueroguns (out of MMB Spook Gotta Girl), who was ridden by Francesco Martinotti to a top 10 finish in the Level 4 Open.

Taking the second spot in the Invitational stallion rankings with $133,750 in offspring earnings was PS Mega Shine Chic (Shine Chic Shine x Megas Sugar Baby), owned by ADH-Mor Ranch. PS Mega Shine Chic’s top two finishers at $50,000 each were Pawn Stars (out of All Guns On Deck), ridden by NRHA Million Dollar Rider Dany Tremblay to third place in the Level 4 Open, and Snap My Crush (out of Snapbacks), who took the Non Pro Level 2 Championship and Level 4 Reserve Championship with Dani Tremblay. PS Mega Shine Chic also sired Level 2 Open Champion BB Megaelectricshine (out of Sssmokin Electric), who also placed ninth in the Level 4 with Mathieu Buton, and Temptedtoshine (out of Misters Temptress), who finished just outside the top 10 with Jared Leclair.

NRHA Million Dollar Sire Colonels Shining Gun (Gunner x Shining Little Peach), owned by Katarzyna Roleska, added $106,458 to his offspring earnings in the Invitational. He sired HS Marshal (out of Dun Its Dirty Secret), who was ridden to a Level 4 Open Reserve Championship and $75,000 with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Trevor Dare. He also sired six other money earners; CS Dunn Gunna Shine (out of Dun It Reining), Ms Hollywood Gun (out of Ms Hollywood Whiz), Revolutionary Guns (out of Muffin Revolution), Treat Yo Self (out of Keda Cat), Gun Shining Ellie (out of Check out My Quixote), and Mr Jo (out of Whowhizthispeppychic).

Rounding out the top five sires were Dun It For Whizkey (Topsail Whiz x Dun It For Chex), owned by Cardinal Hill Training Center LLC with $86,000, and Electric Snow (Jacs Electric Spark x Snow Gun), owned by Equine Plus, with $66,500.

The Invitational is held as part of the 100X Reining Classic, which premiered in Tulsa August 25-September 3. By the end of the show, the event made history as the highest-paying reining event ever. First time this combo set foot in the pen! 🤯

After taking the lead early in the day, Andrea Fappani spent the rest of it nervously watching to see if his score of 225 would hold first place in the Invitational Open Futurity Level 4 at the 100X Reining Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Luckily for Fappani, it did—earning him an additional $100,000 to add to his eight million dollars in lifetime earnings, a milestone he crossed early on in the event.

Fappani rode Inferno Thirty Five, a 2020 stallion named because he was purchased on Christmas Day in recognition of owner Stephen Archer’s thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Inferno Thirty Five is by NRHA Million Dollar Sire Inferno 66 out of MadeOf Pure Spangled.

“I felt really confident,” said Fappani. “He very much felt like a horse that I've shown quite a bit, not a first-timer in the pen.”

You read that right: this was Inferno Thirty Five and Fappani’s first time showing together, having not even done a paid warm-up before competing.

In regards to the Invitational, Fappani said that, “It’s been something that has really boosted the whole industry. I think stallion owners have supported it for the right reason. For us as trainers, it’s another great show to showcase our three-year-olds in these great arenas. I've been a supporter of it - and my customers have, too - since the beginning.”

Fappani plans to give the stallion some time off before the NRHA Futurity in October. He thanked the owners for the opportunity to show and his whole crew for keeping things running so that he can bring as many horses to a show as he does.
