The more we discover about the remarkable work of APOPO's HeroRATs, the more our admiration for the program grows. These rats are now being trained for tasks such as mine detection, search and rescue, medical diagnosis, and wildlife conservation. Two years ago, Sleuth Houndz began sponsoring a rat named Suri, but upon her retirement in 2022, our sponsorship transferred to Baraka, who was then only 8 weeks old. Now, at 2 years old, Baraka is undergoing training to become a mine detection rat.

I am excited to announce that I have been accepted as an evaluator for the new and exciting Cyber Sniffing Games. Sleuth Houndz will be introducing Sniffing games as part of our courses within our advanced groups, and offering Evaluation Sessions for those wishing to earn titles and awards with Cyber Scent Work Inc. As with all of our training and classes the evaluation sessions will be suitable for dogs that may struggle with challenges such as anxiety and reactivity. There is also tremendous value in the skills learnt playing these fun games for both ends of the lead for those that are trialling and or preparing to trial.

EVERY YEAR WE RUN OUR SLEUTH HOUNDZ CUP CHALLENGE IN EACH OF OUR ODOUR CLASSES.
THIS YEAR OUR OVERALL CUP WINNER WAS TONA SUPPORTED BY HER HANDLER VIRGINIE. THEY ACHIEVED THE AWESOME TALLY OF ONLY ONE CUP OUT OF 150 KNOCKED OVER DURING THE SEARCH. THEY PROVED A VERY SKILLFUL TEAM.
AT THE OTHER END THE WINNER OF THE MUG AWARD FOR THIS YEAR WITH A NEW HIGH SCORE OF 65 CUPS KNOCKED OVER WAS GEORDIE AND HIS HANDLER ANGELA.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR TAKING PART AND GIVING US ALL A LOT OF LAUGHS, CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH TEAMS. TILL NEXT YEAR HERE IS OUR CUP WINNER TONA, AND THE RECEPIENT OF OUR MUG AWARD GEORDIE.
