Hi there,
My name is Brigitte and I wanted to thank you and share with you our journey with BSD. I first noticed Archie Rose losing tummy hair just after she turned 1. I wondered if it was the Nexgard or an allergy or perhaps thyroid issues..I took her to her regular vet who did blood tests and everything was normal so he referred us to the canine dermatologist at the Sydney University vet centre. She said categorically it was BSD and despite much research there was no known cause so....” just keep her warm and give her this crocodile dog sausage which has all the nutrition she needs”. Archie hates all dog sausage! So I kept doing internet searches and tried some things that didn’t work. I was almost resigned to her fate after another 2 years but kept looking. I then came upon the Dermagic site and saw lots of before photos that looked just like Archie so decided to give it a go - we had absolutely nothing to lose. Though sceptical (I am a pharmacist) I decided to give it a go because if it really was caused by a yeast overgrowth then I knew sulphur could help so I started treatment on 2 May 2022. I used the rescue lotion every night (had her remaining hair trimmed short) and bought enough 0000 baby singlets for her to have a new one every night (because of the smell). Results were slow but your helpline were very encouraging and said to be persistent - I was. I used every night on all her body for 11 weeks during which time hair fell out and skin peeled. Then one day I noticed hair sprouting - first on her neck and chest then back then everywhere (except tail and ears which I continued to treat and am still using on tail but nearly done now). None can believe Archie is the same dog and now the groomer has to thin and trim her fur which she says is thicker than before she got BSD. I feed Archie a raw diet - Kangaroo and vegetables from The Butchers Dog, Ziwi Peak and Frontier Pets as dry food snacks. She has your Love Bugs and a fish oil supplement. I can’t
