I have always had a passion for animals and their behaviour, especially dogs. I rescued one of our family dogs Orion from a local community, he was covered in ticks and barely alive. This was the first dog I had trained, When I was 15 i was mauled by a family friends’ dog. This was a setback in my relationship with Orion as i was nervous to play with him aft

er returning from surgery. It was a long recovery, but I was able to get passed my fear, but the question of why the dog had attacked me had always made me wonder. Over the years I have worked in multiple roles in the animal industry, i have been a zookeeper, vet nurse and have worked in pet stores as a salesperson and a dog trainer. My first role as a dog trainer was while I was working at a pet store, where i decided to start Alpha Omega Dogs. At the time i had my dog Zeus who had anxiety and aggression issues, so i began studying canine behaviour as there was nothing in the training course that helped with behavioural issues. I saw there was a need for a personal approach to training, not every dog or family is the same so they shouldn’t be treated or trained the same way. Since then I have studied canine psychology My dream was to have smaller classes so clients could have more time with their trainers and private training that was tailored to each household. This dream is now a reality

🌿 Vetiver for Dogs – A Natural Calming Aid! 🐶✨

This isn’t something we’ve talked about on our platform before, but it’s a tool I personally discuss with clients. As dog trainers, suggesting things like aromatherapy can seem a bit odd, but we want our clients to have all the options available to them for their dogs’ well-being.

Vetiver essential oil is one of those options. Known for its grounding and calming properties, it’s been a game-changer for my dogs when they’re stressed, anxious, or simply need to wind down. Whether it’s helping manage anxiety or creating a relaxing environment for a movie day at home, I’ve seen the benefits firsthand—for both my dogs and myself!

✅ How to Use Vetiver for Your Dog:
🐾 Diffuse a small amount in your home to create a soothing environment.
🐾 Dilute with a carrier oil and apply a tiny amount to their bedding.
🐾 Rub a diluted drop on your hands before a training session to help them focus.

Food Friday: How to Transition to a Raw Diet 🐶🍖

Kat is not only an incredible person but also a skilled K9 handler. She was our very first owner-handler to pass the Public Access Test with her dog, Charlez. Charlez has made a tremendous impact on Kat’s life, igniting her passion for dog training and transforming her journey! 🐶❤️

Kat specializes in working with our assistance dog clients, and her military background gives her a unique talent for connecting with our ex-military clients. Her understanding and dedication truly set her apart!

She’s also the proud owner of three wonderful dogs: Harry the bulldog, Charlez the Goldador, and her newest addition, Griffin the red fox Labrador, who is a stud dog in the M&M Companion Retrievers Assistance Dog Program. 🦴✨

Unlike kibble, raw food is high in moisture content, helping to keep your dog’s urinary system healthy and prevent dehydration. 🐾✨ Exciting news from our training journey with Harlow! Yesterday, he had his first visit to Mareeba Kids Campus for an hour, and it was a day full of learning and growth.

Training an assistance dog involves so much more than just commands; it’s about exposing them to various situations and ensuring they stay calm and collected. Harlow's ability to remain calm around children is crucial for his development, and we’re thrilled to provide this opportunity for him!

We believe that these visits will not only help Harlow become more comfortable in busy environments but also give the children a chance to learn how to interact gently and calmly with dogs. It’s a wonderful way for them to experience the joy of having an assistance dog in their lives!

Harlow did an amazing job during his first hour, and the kids were fantastic as well! We can’t wait for many more visits to come. Here’s to building confidence and friendships! 🐶❤️
