I have always had a passion for animals and their behaviour, especially dogs. I rescued one of our family dogs Orion from a local community, he was covered in ticks and barely alive. This was the first dog I had trained, When I was 15 i was mauled by a family friendsβ dog. This was a setback in my relationship with Orion as i was nervous to play with him aft
er returning from surgery. It was a long recovery, but I was able to get passed my fear, but the question of why the dog had attacked me had always made me wonder. Over the years I have worked in multiple roles in the animal industry, i have been a zookeeper, vet nurse and have worked in pet stores as a salesperson and a dog trainer. My first role as a dog trainer was while I was working at a pet store, where i decided to start Alpha Omega Dogs. At the time i had my dog Zeus who had anxiety and aggression issues, so i began studying canine behaviour as there was nothing in the training course that helped with behavioural issues. I saw there was a need for a personal approach to training, not every dog or family is the same so they shouldnβt be treated or trained the same way. Since then I have studied canine psychology My dream was to have smaller classes so clients could have more time with their trainers and private training that was tailored to each household. This dream is now a reality

Who says preparing enrichment for your pup has to be time-consuming? In just 20 minutes, I whipped up three days' worth of enrichment for my three dogs. These goodies are now patiently waiting in the freezer for their turn to shine!
Using scream and licki Mat products, I created a variety of delicious treats that will serve as substitute meals for my dogs throughout the week. Not only does this save me time, but it also gives my pups the mental stimulation they need to work for their food.

Just three months ago, Charles had his public access taken away due to his overexcitement and jumping. However, with his incredible ability to learn and the addition of firm structure, he has made a huge turnaround. Last Sunday, Charles attended an Easter event, which was his first massive public exposure since his training began. He had the opportunity to watch multiple bands and experience things he had never seen before. And guess what? Charles was cool, calm, and collected throughout the entire five hours we were there! I truly believe that Charles has what it takes to become an exceptional assistance dog. If his structure and obedience training are followed when he returns home, I see a bright future ahead for him. πΎ Happy Monday! π We are absolutely thrilled by the remarkable progress one of our assistance dogs in training is making. This adorable boy has travelled all the way from Victoria for a board and train program. In the coming weeks, we will be addressing various behaviourall issues such as pulling on the lead, jumping, and overall over-excitement. It's important to note that these challenges do not diminish his incredible nature; he simply needs some fine-tuning. πΉ In this video, Caitlin is working on a distance drop with Charles. Charles has a playful habit of dropping right at your feet and grabbing your ankles when he lands. To address this behaviour, Caitlin and Taylor have been diligently working on getting him to drop from a distance without the need to come closer. They have also focused on helping him maintain the drop position, as he tends to pop up into a sit or stand up and walk away. πͺ We are immensely proud of Charles's progress so far, and we can't wait to witness his continued growth and achievements during this training period.
