I have always had a passion for animals and their behaviour, especially dogs. I rescued one of our family dogs Orion from a local community, he was covered in ticks and barely alive. This was the first dog I had trained, When I was 15 i was mauled by a family friends’ dog. This was a setback in my relationship with Orion as i was nervous to play with him aft

er returning from surgery. It was a long recovery, but I was able to get passed my fear, but the question of why the dog had attacked me had always made me wonder. Over the years I have worked in multiple roles in the animal industry, i have been a zookeeper, vet nurse and have worked in pet stores as a salesperson and a dog trainer. My first role as a dog trainer was while I was working at a pet store, where i decided to start Alpha Omega Dogs. At the time i had my dog Zeus who had anxiety and aggression issues, so i began studying canine behaviour as there was nothing in the training course that helped with behavioural issues. I saw there was a need for a personal approach to training, not every dog or family is the same so they shouldn’t be treated or trained the same way. Since then I have studied canine psychology My dream was to have smaller classes so clients could have more time with their trainers and private training that was tailored to each household. This dream is now a reality

🐾 The Master Manipulator: Meet Obi, Our Training Pro!
If you think your dog doesn't know how to work the system or test boundaries, think again!
In this video, our apprentice Amy is learning with Obi, and he is absolutely pushing the limits and breaking the rules. He knows Amy is new to training, and he's totally capitalizing on it!
Crucially, Obi knows the rules and follows them perfectly with the correct handler. He only offers these "bad manners" with new handlers or handlers that will allow it.
You might be asking: "Why would you let him do that? Isn't that teaching him bad habits?"
Here's why it's a critical learning moment:
A. Obi is a great teacher. He will consistently push boundaries with new people, forcing the handler to be clear and consistent.
B. He's helping Amy learn timing and consistency.
Obi has helped train almost every dog trainer we've ever had. He's the ultimate test—and a brilliant tool for Amy's development! Keep going, Amy! 💪

🐾 Hot Pavement Protection for Paws! ☀️
Give a big high-five to Harlow, who is absolutely crushing his second time wearing shoes! 🙌
Especially here in QLD, the ground can get SCORCHING hot. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws! 🥵 Putting shoes on your dog is a fantastic way to protect them from:
🔥 Hot Concrete & Asphalt: Crucial for all dogs, especially our amazing assistance dogs who are working hard and need protection from that hot pavement.
🔪 Rough Terrain: Running or walking on gravel can be tough and abrasive on paw pads. Shoes create a much-needed shield!
🦠 Hidden Hazards: Protection from sharp objects, chemicals, and irritants.
Harlow is doing such a great job getting used to them! It takes practice, but the comfort and safety it provides is worth it!

🤩 Competition Day Success! 🤩
Yesterday's class was so much fun as we finally held our annual client obedience compilation competition!

Our yearly clients were split into two teams and spent the last three weeks perfecting their synchronized routines. What makes this so amazing? They came up with the entire compilation and routine themselves as a group—we just supervised and left them to it! 🤯 The dedication and effort shown by every single person and dog was simply outstanding. Both groups did an absolutely amazing job!

What a crazy 6 years it has been, and what an experience being your owner and trainer. From the reactive and human‑nervous dog you once were, to the socially awkward yet eager boy you are now — your journey has been nothing short of incredible.

Your attitude and sass keep me guessing, but it’s your resilience that truly amazes me. Even with such a sensitive soul, you navigate this world with strength and grace.

You’ve kept me on my toes every step of the way, and I can’t wait for the many, many years ahead. 💛🐾

☀️ The days are getting hotter, and our canine friends are feeling it too!
Not all dogs have the luxury of staying indoors, so it’s up to us to make sure they stay safe and comfortable.

💧 Keep their water bowls topped up and fresh.
🌊 Offer a paddle pool for splashing fun.
💨 Set up a pedestal fan or shady spot to help them cool down.

Look how happy Harlow looks in this paddle pool 🐶💦Drool and all 🤣🤣😅 — sometimes the simplest things make the biggest difference!

These small steps go a long way in keeping tails wagging and paws happy during the summer heat. 💙

✨ Taylor’s trip to Melbourne was all about connection and focus. We checked in on two of our training teams, and wow — what a sight!

👀 Look at the handler focus between Psy and Kai. They’re working together with such precision and calm that you’d hardly believe we were standing in Highpoint — one of the biggest shopping centres in the Southern Hemisphere — on a busy Saturday morning.

🌟 Did You Know? Assistance Dogs Need Backup Skills Too! 🐾

Even though an assistance dog is trained to work with one primary handler, they also need the ability to calmly follow instructions from others — especially in emergencies. This doesn’t mean they should be distracted by people while working, but it does mean they need the emotional flexibility and training to respond to a trusted second handler if needed.

That’s why we love giving our dogs the chance to “have a go” with someone new 💛

Here’s Harlow doing his very first public access session with a different handler — none other than Cerby’s handler! He handled the change beautifully, showing calm, focus, and adaptability in a new working dynamic.

Because at the end of the day — obedience is obedience.
If a dog is asked to follow a cue, they need to respond — no matter who’s holding the lead.
Think of it like this: you hold the leash, you hold the commands.
