Alpha Lykos K9 Training and Behaviour Transforming Dogs and Empowering Owners: Nationally Certified Dog Trainers servicing Australia This is the moment i became interested in Canine aggression.

Taylor Skinner- Owner and Head trainer
I have always had a passion for animals and their behaviour, especially dogs. I rescued one of our family dogs Orion from a local community, he was covered in ticks and barely alive. This was the first dog I had trained, When I was 15 i was mauled by a family friends’ dog. This was a setback in my relationship with Orion as i was nervous to play with him aft

er returning from surgery. It was a long recovery, but I was able to get passed my fear, but the question of why the dog had attacked me had always made me wonder. Over the years I have worked in multiple roles in the animal industry, i have been a zookeeper, vet nurse and have worked in pet stores as a salesperson and a dog trainer. My first role as a dog trainer was while I was working at a pet store, where i decided to start Alpha Omega Dogs. At the time i had my dog Zeus who had anxiety and aggression issues, so i began studying canine behaviour as there was nothing in the training course that helped with behavioural issues. I saw there was a need for a personal approach to training, not every dog or family is the same so they shouldn’t be treated or trained the same way. Since then I have studied canine psychology My dream was to have smaller classes so clients could have more time with their trainers and private training that was tailored to each household. This dream is now a reality
Key interests/Skills- Aggression, Enrichment, behavioural issues, and trick training.

Trust isn’t built overnight—it’s earned, moment by moment.

In this video, it’s just me and Obi wandering through our local fruit and veg shop. No customers, no distractions, no leash. I’m not giving cues or asking for anything—he’s simply choosing to be with me. That’s his idea of quality time.

This kind of trust doesn’t come from obedience alone. It’s the result of consistency, respect, and shared experiences. When we’re out and about, I don’t have to worry—Obi’s my guy. He knows what’s expected, and I know how he’ll respond in almost any situation.

Almost. Because no dog is perfect, and no human is either. But when you’ve built a foundation like this, you move through the world together—with confidence, connection, and a whole lot of heart.

✨ No one pivots quite like Gotcha! ✨
She’s our standout trick dog from this yearly program, and her signature pazz when she spins is pure joy in motion. Gotcha brings flair, focus, and a whole lot of heart—and watching her pivot is guaranteed to lift your spirits 🐾💫

📣 Not Just a Breed—It’s the Dog for the Job 🐾

When it comes to assistance dogs, it’s not about the breed—it’s about temperament, capability, and heart. Sure, Labradors are common in the role, but the landscape is shifting. Dogs from all backgrounds are proving they’ve got what it takes.

Meet Sharni, a Rottweiler who’s rewriting the narrative. People often fear her because of her breed—but Sharni? She’s gentle, intuitive, and absolutely devoted. She’s transformed her handler’s life, stepping into the role of assistance dog like she was born for it.

✨ She’s not the “typical” choice. She’s the right choice.

Let’s break the stigma. Let’s celebrate the dogs who rise to the occasion, no matter their breed.

💛 Support in high-stress situations goes a long way.

Last week, Harlow was put under pressure at the hospital. Was he perfect? No—but that’s not the point. It was a huge learning curve, and he handled it with heart.

When our friend nearly passed out, Harlow went into high alert. But as you can see in this photo, he found his calm. That moment of regulation was a win in itself. Afterward, he even offered one of his trained tasks (pressure therapy)—a beautiful sign of growth.

Every moment is an opportunity. Proud of this boy and the journey we’re on.

📸✨ Just LOOK at this dynamic duo! We were over the moon to receive these photos of our youngest handler, Phoenix, and her incredible dog, Bugs. Phoenix is proudly rocking her Team Lykos tee, while Bugs is looking sharp in his Alpha Lykos assistance dog vest 🐾💙

Seeing our gear out in the world—on such a dedicated young team—makes our hearts sing. The bond between these two is something special, and we just know they’re going to do amazing things together.

Keep shining, Phoenix and Bugs. We’re so proud to have you both in the Alpha Lykos family! 💫

🐾Do you know what I love? Training dogs at Bunnings!

I know it sounds a little odd, but hear me out — it’s one of the best places to build real-world confidence. There’s movement, noise, smells, strangers, trolleys, forklifts… and dogs learn to focus through it all. It’s distraction heaven, and it helps build calm, resilient behaviour that transfers beautifully to everyday life.

Plus, it’s accessible, shaded, and full of friendly faces. If your dog can settle in Bunnings, they’re well on their way to thriving anywhere.

You’ve been seeing a lot of Cerberus on our socials lately — and for good reason! But today, we want to share a story that might surprise you 💬
We pride ourselves on showing the good and the challenging sides of dog training. And Cerby’s journey hasn’t been all sit-drops and smiles.
From just 3 months old, Cerberus showed intense resource guarding and reactivity. These behaviours can emerge for many reasons — from developmental phases, fear impact periods, early socialisation gaps, or even a young dog testing the hierarchy. This is a generalised observation we see across many cases, not a reflection of any specific origin.
At one point, Cerby even bit his handler — not out of fear or confusion, but as part of a troubling pattern that needed addressing.
So we stripped everything back. We focused on trust. On commands like “leave it.” On teaching him that giving something up didn’t mean losing — it might mean getting it back, or getting something even better. Slowly, Cerby learned that guarding wasn’t necessary, and that calm behaviour got him what he wanted.
It took about a month of consistent, compassionate work. And now? Cerby and his handler have built a bond based on trust, respect, and understanding 💛
Training isn’t always pretty. But it’s always worth it.

Cerby’s first adventure at Cairns Central 🥰🥰
It was a seriously overstimulating environment — new smells, sounds, and sights everywhere — but this little legend handled it like a true champion 💪🐾

When things get overwhelming, we go back to basics: sit, drop, sit. It’s not just obedience — it’s a way to switch the brain back on and help our dogs refocus. Think of it like stretching before a workout: simple, grounding, and so effective 💡

So proud of this boy and how far he’s come 💛

Progress in motion!
Cerby smashed “place” in one lesson and picked up “pivot” by lesson two 💥👏 But this reel isn’t just about skills—it’s about self-control.

Lisa’s guiding his owner through the steps, while Cerby works hard to manage his excitement. Last week, standing this close to Lisa would’ve sent him bouncing. Today? He’s focused, grounded, and 100% improved.

Not perfect—but proud. Because real progress looks like this: messy, joyful, and full of heart 💛

🐾 Empty peanut butter jar? Don’t toss it just yet!
Turn it into a tasty enrichment treat for your dog 🐶✨

A nearly-empty natural peanut butter jar (no added salt, sugar, or xylitol) makes a fun, rewarding puzzle for your pup. Let them lick, nudge, and explore—great for mental stimulation and a delicious reward!

Important:
🟤 Only use natural peanut butter—check the label!
🟤 Always supervise your dog—jars are glass and can break.
🟤 Remove the lid and any sharp edges before offering.

A simple way to reuse, reduce waste, and make your dog’s day 💛
Have you tried this with your pup? Share your enrichment ideas below!

🎓🐾 And just like that… we have our FIRST graduate from the Lykos Foundations Assistance Dog Program!

What a momentous moment—Bugs and his incredible handler Phoenix have officially graduated… two weeks early 😱😱

Not only are they the first team to complete our program, but they’ve set the bar high with their dedication, teamwork, and heart. This milestone is more than a certificate—it’s the beginning of a life-changing partnership 💛

👏 Huge congratulations to Bugs and Phoenix—we’re so proud of you both!

And the journey doesn’t stop here… In just two weeks, they’ll be starting Foundations & Focus, the next phase of their training to build even more confidence, precision, and independence. We can’t wait to see what they achieve next!

💬 Sure, Phoenix might tell me she hates me almost every meeting (we love a good inside joke 😅), but that hasn’t stopped her from showing up, putting in the work, and absolutely smashing it.

Here’s to many more graduates and many more lives transformed 🐶✨
