Alpha Lykos K9 Training and Behaviour Transforming Dogs and Empowering Owners: Nationally Certified Dog Trainers servicing Australia This is the moment i became interested in Canine aggression.

Taylor Skinner- Owner and Head trainer
I have always had a passion for animals and their behaviour, especially dogs. I rescued one of our family dogs Orion from a local community, he was covered in ticks and barely alive. This was the first dog I had trained, When I was 15 i was mauled by a family friends’ dog. This was a setback in my relationship with Orion as i was nervous to play with him aft

er returning from surgery. It was a long recovery, but I was able to get passed my fear, but the question of why the dog had attacked me had always made me wonder. Over the years I have worked in multiple roles in the animal industry, i have been a zookeeper, vet nurse and have worked in pet stores as a salesperson and a dog trainer. My first role as a dog trainer was while I was working at a pet store, where i decided to start Alpha Omega Dogs. At the time i had my dog Zeus who had anxiety and aggression issues, so i began studying canine behaviour as there was nothing in the training course that helped with behavioural issues. I saw there was a need for a personal approach to training, not every dog or family is the same so they shouldn’t be treated or trained the same way. Since then I have studied canine psychology My dream was to have smaller classes so clients could have more time with their trainers and private training that was tailored to each household. This dream is now a reality

✨ Taylor’s trip to Melbourne was all about connection and focus. We checked in on two of our training teams, and wow — what a sight!

👀 Look at the handler focus between Psy and Kai. They’re working together with such precision and calm that you’d hardly believe we were standing in Highpoint — one of the biggest shopping centres in the Southern Hemisphere — on a busy Saturday morning.

💪 This is what teamwork looks like: trust, discipline, and partnership shining through even in the most bustling environments. Psy and Kai are proof that with the right training, focus follows anywhere.

Meet Our Breeder Partner: Purpose-Bred Labradors for Life-Changing Roles

We’re thrilled to introduce our trusted breeder, who has been shaping exceptional Labradors since 1992 as a registered Dogs Australia (ANKC) breeder. With decades of experience in showing and breeding, their program is built on a foundation of temperament, health, and trainability — everything we look for in future assistance dogs.

🏆 Their team includes:
• 2 yellow Labrador males
• 9 Labrador females (black and yellow), with 3–4 actively showing
• Golden Retrievers bred by daughter, who joined the journey 8 years ago and recently welcomed her first litter in May 2025

💡 Why we chose them
Their breeding philosophy aligns perfectly with Alpha Lykos values:
✔️ Calm, adaptable temperaments
✔️ Full health testing (hips, elbows, DNA)
✔️ High trainability for assistance, working, and companion roles

🧠 From day 3, every litter receives Early Neurological Stimulation and sensory enrichment — including tactile exercises, sound exposure, and gentle weaning practices — to support confident, resilient pups ready for life in diverse homes and roles.

We’re proud to work alongside a breeder who shares our commitment to ethical breeding, lifelong wellness, and empowering partnerships between dogs and humans. These pups are more than companions — they’re future heroes.

Stay tuned for litter updates and puppy spotlights! 🐶✨

🌟 Did You Know? Assistance Dogs Need Backup Skills Too! 🐾

Even though an assistance dog is trained to work with one primary handler, they also need the ability to calmly follow instructions from others — especially in emergencies. This doesn’t mean they should be distracted by people while working, but it does mean they need the emotional flexibility and training to respond to a trusted second handler if needed.

That’s why we love giving our dogs the chance to “have a go” with someone new 💛

Here’s Harlow doing his very first public access session with a different handler — none other than Cerby’s handler! He handled the change beautifully, showing calm, focus, and adaptability in a new working dynamic.

Because at the end of the day — obedience is obedience.
If a dog is asked to follow a cue, they need to respond — no matter who’s holding the lead.
Think of it like this: you hold the leash, you hold the commands.

🌟 Distraction Recall Royalty: Badger & Gotcha in Action! 🐾

Look at these two stars go! ✨ Badger and Gotcha were so laser-focused on their handlers during distraction recall that they nearly collided — that’s how dialed in they were!

💛 Gotcha has been working hard on training near other dogs, and you’d never guess she’s not a fan of canine company. Her handler’s dedication is shining through, and her progress is nothing short of inspiring.

🖤 Badger continues to impress with his unwavering focus and commitment. His handler connection is rock-solid, and his consistency is a joy to watch.

These moments remind us why we train — not just for obedience, but for trust, teamwork, and transformation. Well done to both handlers for building such incredible partnerships!

Bugs is bringing the brilliance 🐾✨

What a little star this guy is! From his focus to his finesse, Bugs is absolutely shining—and it’s all thanks to the incredible dedication of his handler, Phoenix.

The time, effort, and consistency Phoenix has poured into their training journey is paying off in the most beautiful way. Just watch Bugs’ drop-stand… the mechanics are chef’s kiss. Smooth, precise, and confident.

And we all know how much I love a mechanically correct free drop 😍

This kind of teamwork doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through trust, patience, and a whole lot of heart. Hats off to Phoenix for showing what’s possible when you believe in your dog and put in the work.

Go Bugs! 🌟👏

Toby’s back—and cooler than ever 🤠🐾

Last weekend, Toby the assistance dog rocked his second country music festival like a total pro. Calm, collected, and completely in his element.

What makes this even more special? Toby’s been working through a few confidence wobbles lately. Yep, even adult dogs can have moments of uncertainty. But thanks to the time, patience, and love his people poured in, Toby’s spark is back. And wow, did he shine.

From navigating the crowds to soaking in the music, he handled it all with grace. This isn’t just a win—it’s a comeback. Here’s to persistence, partnership, and the power of trust.

Go Toby! 🎉🐶💛

Trust isn’t built overnight—it’s earned, moment by moment.

In this video, it’s just me and Obi wandering through our local fruit and veg shop. No customers, no distractions, no leash. I’m not giving cues or asking for anything—he’s simply choosing to be with me. That’s his idea of quality time.

This kind of trust doesn’t come from obedience alone. It’s the result of consistency, respect, and shared experiences. When we’re out and about, I don’t have to worry—Obi’s my guy. He knows what’s expected, and I know how he’ll respond in almost any situation.

Almost. Because no dog is perfect, and no human is either. But when you’ve built a foundation like this, you move through the world together—with confidence, connection, and a whole lot of heart.

✨ No one pivots quite like Gotcha! ✨
She’s our standout trick dog from this yearly program, and her signature pazz when she spins is pure joy in motion. Gotcha brings flair, focus, and a whole lot of heart—and watching her pivot is guaranteed to lift your spirits 🐾💫

📣 Not Just a Breed—It’s the Dog for the Job 🐾

When it comes to assistance dogs, it’s not about the breed—it’s about temperament, capability, and heart. Sure, Labradors are common in the role, but the landscape is shifting. Dogs from all backgrounds are proving they’ve got what it takes.

Meet Sharni, a Rottweiler who’s rewriting the narrative. People often fear her because of her breed—but Sharni? She’s gentle, intuitive, and absolutely devoted. She’s transformed her handler’s life, stepping into the role of assistance dog like she was born for it.

✨ She’s not the “typical” choice. She’s the right choice.

Let’s break the stigma. Let’s celebrate the dogs who rise to the occasion, no matter their breed.
