I LOVE my job and I’m good at it. It makes me full inside and I’m proud of the journey I go on with each client. I have changed THOUSANDS of dogs and humans lives each year with my experience and gentle methods. If I died tomorrow I would feel good knowing that I have done something very for filling inside. Even though it times I get very lonely (for humans 😂) even on the darkest days my job gives me life. Even on the rainy muddy cold ones too. In today’s lesson we had to switch from positive reinforcement, to positive punishment. Although I am obviously a positive trainer, sometimes we need a little extra push with training. As you can see in this video this six month old German shepherd puppy is only trying to play and is frustrated on the leash. As part of our new training regime I have implied that this dog had two sessions a week of off leash play (this is not happening currently) and we are going to pull away from treat training for two weeks. We are going to instigate different training methods, I am professionally trained in all of the behavioural matrix In DogTraining. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then your trainer is not professionally qualified. This particular client has been visiting a weekly obedience school for quite a few months and yet still has not been trained in the matrix. You can see in this video, this German shepherd puppy is lunging and if you look closely in the middle of the video she walks very calmly passed two German Shepherd dogs as well as Lexi and a spoodle. Also note her body language is much more relaxed. We have instigated a minimal talking policy and letting the dog focus on her behaviour more than being hyperactive and yelling at the dog. You will see in some videos how he is with gentle, and he knows not to bite my hands/fingers (unless if he is in one of his crazy moods😂)
And with shake and high 5 he uses the same paw as the hand we use for the command (our right hand, his left paw)
As for the look command, you can tell how amazing this is because he focuses straight away and stops wagging his tail and his attention is on you!
Sarah you have been amazing and taught us and Dusty so much! I won't be able to come on Saturday for graduation because I'm partaking in the Oxfam 100km walk, however Chris and Dusty will be there.
I would love to continue training with you if possible.
