Our Grommie turned sweet 16 today ❤️
Her day started with the obligatory melody of many songs with 16 in them (with our own spin of course).
Followed by her birthday walk, breakfast and presents. Sunny was with us in spirit(taking off with Grommie’s new toy as usual).
The birthday girl is currently snoring away contently.
It’s hard work being 16!

Today we celebrate what would have been our little Sunny’s 15th birthday and 14 years of her officially being in my life(and mine in hers).
I never really knew how old Sunny was when she came into my life. I was told 12 months so I chose the day I brought her home as her birthday as technical I hope her best life really started from that day.
We started the day with our family walk as always sharing special moments of our time together. Sunny was definitely with us in spirit. The 'firsts' are always the hardest.
There’s been tears today of course but also gratitude for the joy she brought and the amazing unconditional love that she gave to us.
As many of you know we started our business because of Sunny and Grommie. In particular Sunny due to her anxiety.
The past couple of months(2 exactly today) I have taken a step back from training and the business. Losing Sunny really impacted us and we needed that time to grieve with her loss. Whilst we still are grieving we know that she and Grommie are the reason we started our dog business journey.
Sunny left a legacy of showing us the importance of treating dogs and all animals with kindness, patience and love.
For that reason we are resuming our services as from today to honour our little pocket rocket on her birthday and dedicate her memory to continuing to make a difference for dogs and their guardians.
Happy birthday our sweet Sunny - forever in our hearts ♥️

We were a bit later for our walk today and as it was a bit warmer we decided to keep the pups on a lead and have a calm sniff walk.
We have also seen snakes in this area and despite it getting a bit cooler we didn’t want to risk it.
Glad we trusted our gut as we met this little beauty on the way out 🐍

Grommie’s 15th birthday 🥳🐕❤️
Today we are celebrating our girls special day. It’s such a gift and privilege to be part of a dogs life especially in their senior years. Your relationship changes from when they were young. When they are a senior it develops into something so special. I find it’s a different kind of bond and connection you have with them. We are so blessed that we are able to celebrate today with reaching this age milestone with her 🥰🐾
Grommie’s new nickname is “Benjamina Button”. She seems to be aging backwards and still moves really well 🐕🐾
We also have a big suspicion that she colours her hair when we are sleeping because she doesn’t have a lot greys for her age 😂😳
She is a testament that old dogs can learn new tricks. It’s never too late. Watching her learn new skills and engage and embrace enrichment activities has been amazing.
We love her so much and she fills our hearts with so much joy 💕🐾

Summer is well and truly here in Australia and this is the time to think about the best time to walk your dogs.
We either go early in the morning or later in the evening especially on hotter days.
Surfaces get so hot that they can damage your dogs paws and cause nasty burns. And it’s not just pavements either! Sand gets hot and don’t forget out in your backyard too. There could be ‘hotspots’ that you may not realise.
Easy test is if it’s too hot for your hand it’s too hot for your dogs paws.
So do the touch test and keep your pups paws safe 🐾 They will thank you for it! Grommie certainly did 😂🐾
We had a joyful catch up the other day with Zara from Witty Woofs - Dog Training & Behaviour and met her beautiful girl Harley for the first time.
Couldn’t resist doing a bit of self selection with the oils and Harley definitely took to a few. Her favs were Copaiba, Frankincense and Helichrysum.
All 3 are powerhouses for supporting muscles and joints. Given that Harley is still recovering from hip surgery it’s no wonder she was keen on those three!
I absolutely love how aromatherapy can help our animals and just watching them instinctively know what they need is amazing 🥰🐾

Think again! You can turn the most boring piece of food in the most exciting thing since sliced bread(and no we don’t suggest feeding bread either 😂)
How? By using their food in fun ways.

Not only does your dog get more excited with their food but it is also brilliant enrichment to help build confidence and grow calmness which in turn helps with multiple behaviour issues.
And they get to use their nose for a mental work out! Win win!
Sleep is so important for us and our dogs.It restores our bodies and helps us to function during the day. For our dogs it can be a big good behaviour boost too. A well rested dog is more able to focus, be less excitable, calmer and more able to learn new skills. Giving your dog a calm area to sleep away from excitement and noise is imperative to getting enough sleep.Find a quiet space and set up your dogs bed in there. Make it comfy and away from distractions such as a doorway or a window with people going by. A large laundry room is ideal or even using a baby gate to fence off an area. The more we can promote rest the calmer our dogs will be. Today we celebrate our little Sunny’s 14th birthday/gotcha day.

As I don’t know for sure what the official day is I chose the day I brought her home. She was around 12 months at the time.
She has been my rock over the years, biggest teacher and best little sister to her big sister Grommie.
14 years young and you wouldn’t know it the way she still moves around and looks!
Whilst we don’t have the elaborate birthday Pawty planned we started the day with a special walk and family time. She got some of her favourite chews and chicken. Not to mention her favourite games 🐾
