Just the thoughts from a well respected Dog Trainer.
Although in our case it’s around 12 weeks.

We will always accommodate families with their preferences where we can.

We will not however put a pup that is inappropriate from a temperament/personality perspective with a family purely based on them being the right colour. That is what being ethical is about.

We have certainly had families go elsewhere because of our high ethical standards, in fact, we are punished for it at least once a week, which is really quite sad and disappointing.

Hooray, I’m home and can breathe again.

I won’t be keeping my normal hours and will hopefully be sleeping a bit. I will get back to everyone that contacts us, just not as quickly as usual.

For those that don’t know, for the past 2 1/2 years (as a complication of COVID) I’ve been unable to breath through my nose and have had very little smell or taste in that time and basically none the past year or so.

I initially was told up to a 2 year wait for it to be done in the public health system. At 22 months I contacted John Hunter hospital for an update and was told that the information I was given was incorrect and that it is a MINIMUM of 5 years and possibly 7 years, just to be seen by a Dr for it, that’s not getting the operation, that’s just for the initial consultation.

I have other surgery being postponed, due to the increased risks of not being able to breath through my nose. So I decided to have the polyp removed from my sinus privately, which I would have done 2 years ago if given the correct information initially by JHH.

To have it done here on the mid north coast costs several thousand dollars more than having it done in Sydney. Just another way that non metro areas are being let down in health matters. For context, this sub 1 hour day procedure has cost just over $8000.

I ask you all this question…..

Is a 5-7 year wait for a sub 1 hour day surgery procedure, that will allow a person to be able to breathe properly and actually sleep through the night reasonable?

Having lived it, I can say without hesitation, that I personally, believe that the ability to breathe is somewhat essential to life and that that length of wait is completely unacceptable.

So please think about that at the next election when you come to make your vote.

We are heading to Victoria in around 7-10 days to deliver some puppies in person!!

There are still a few pups available, so if you are in Victoria or southern NSW and are thinking of one of our wonderful pups, now might be the time!

Both current litters have been to the vet and have all received a clean bill of health.
They are all eating lots of BigDog Raw and growing exceptionally well.
They will have their temperament and personality testing done from the 23rd-26th of December at which point we will hopefully know enough to start narrowing down their suitability.

We always do the first 30min+ drive when they are a week old. We continue with drives 3 times a week until they leave us, plus lots of location visits while we are out and about. This helps them become very comfortable in the car and avoids car sickness issues. It’s one of the many many things we do that takes up time, makes a positive difference in the pups, but isn’t usually pointed out by us or considered by families when getting a pup. As with many things, it’s the little things that count.
