Meet Winston, the sweet and clever American Staffordshire Terrier, who is part of our New Year, New Home campaign, meaning you can take him home with zero adoption fees!

This boy is ready to fill your home with his quirky charm and is looking for a family that can provide a loving environment with plenty of adventures and playtime.

Winston knows the basic commands and is eager to show off his skills in return for a treat or two. He is a squeaky toy expert, loves a game of fetch or a good chew session and wants your full attention, so a home where he is the only furry friend is ideal.

If you can provide regular walks, mental stimulation and plenty of love, this clever boy could be the dog you’ve been looking for – check out his adoption page at: https://bit.ly/3DRtDAh

Our Peninsula shelter team recently had a fun 'paint and pizza' end of year celebration, putting brush to canvas to paint portraits of some of our cats available for adoption.

We're blown away by the talent and love put into each one - and so is Tyrion the cat who looks truly amazed by his likeness!

Join us in giving our Peninsula team a round of applause! And if you'd like to adopt a mini masterpiece of your own, Tyrion and Bonnie (and their portraits!) are still available and looking for forever families.

🚨 HELP COVER RICE’S SURGERY & CARE | https://bit.ly/3DTTfMG 🚨

Poor Rice was surrendered to RSPCA Victoria with a severe break in her left back leg. Our vets noted that she was unable to walk, and her leg appeared visually unstable, likely causing significant pain. The sweet but timid pup was also described as “shut down” – a heartbreaking term for an animal who is withdrawn or depressed.

Rice required urgent surgery to repair her broken leg and ease her pain.

She spent 27 days recovering in our clinic and receiving the best possible care; however, nothing compares to a loving home. She is currently continuing her recovery in a volunteer foster home, where she will stay for 6-10 weeks. During this time, Rice will undergo intensive physiotherapy and strict cage rest with gentle walks to ensure her leg heals properly.

WE EXPECT HER SURGERY AND AFTER-CARE COSTS TO EXCEED $4000

As more than 90% of our funding comes from the generous support of the Victorian community, we can’t shoulder this cost on our own. Please help us give lovely Rice the second chance at life she deserves 💙

Good morning, Elsa!

Looking a little dishevelled after we disturbed her nap to take this photo (sorry, Elsa!), she's searching for a home where the snoozes and playtime are plentiful, and the handling and affection is minimal. Elsa is definitely a more play than pats kinda gal!

Likes:
- Naps
- Wet food
- Playing with feather wand and mice toys
- Partaking in some occasional catnip
- Short and gentle pats on her terms

Dislikes:
- Being woken from naps
- Dogs
- Loud and playful children
- Intense affection

Meet Prince, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier X looking for his dream home, who is part of our New Year, New Home campaign, meaning you can take him home with zero adoption fees!

Prince is an active family's dream dog and will be more than happy to join you on any adventure; a new running buddy perhaps? A secure yard, full of toys and puzzles, will help keep this energetic boy busy.

While Prince is best suited to a mature household with no children, he is happy to share the house with a canine companion – although, if he gets the humans all to himself, he won’t mind!

If you can take his royal highness on walks, keep up his training and include him in your adventures, Prince might be the dog for you – check out his adoption profile at: https://bit.ly/3N1wJmx

Meet Ivy, the Heeler mix with a heart full of adventure, who is part of our New Year, New Home campaign, meaning you can take her home with zero adoption fees!

This beautiful girl is full of enthusiasm, has a playful spirit and has been waiting for her new home for too long.

Those who love Heelers know that they are eager to stay active and will happily run around all day, so a secure space where Ivy can explore would be ideal.

Ivy will need her energy channelled in constructive ways, so she will need a patient home that is able to continue her training, provide puzzles and enrichment to keep her engaged and give her plenty of TLC.

If you want an active companion with a heart of gold, Ivy might be the dog for you! Check out her adoption page at: https://bit.ly/47YdUKJ

Did you and your pet meet our Community Outreach team last year?

Our Outreach team delivers programs all over the state to help raise awareness of good animal welfare, provide support and education, and make veterinary care more accessible for everyone in the community.

These programs include discounted desexing and microchipping, low-cost vaccinations, free health checks and pet resources, as well as pet food donations via local foodbanks.

The team helped so many people and pets throughout 2024, including:
- Running 78 low-cost vaccination clinics
- Administering almost 2000 vaccinations
- Desexing 263 cats
- Microchipping 208 cats
- Running ten Healthy Pet Days supporting 365 pets
- Feeding almost 1800 pets through our foodbank

This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of everything they've accomplished!

30/12/2024

New Year's Day can be one of the busiest times for our shelters, caring for many lost and terrified pets that have run away during the frightening sound of fireworks.

Dogs are especially sensitive as they can hear 10 times better than humans, but it's important to keep all our pets in mind tonight:
✨ Make sure microchip details are up to date
✨ Create a secure and comfortable 'safe place' inside for your pet
✨ Leave the TV or music on to mask the noise outside
✨ Rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals should be housed safely inside
✨ Horses are also vulnerable to fireworks and should be securely stabled
✨ Wildlife may end up on roads trying to escape the noise, if you find injured wildlife please visit: https://bit.ly/3Sd4qDy
