Some seem to think at the start it's cute and he loves me when displaying this sort of behaviour, right? Nope!. He is giving me all the passive warning signs with his body language stay away from my human ! As he did nip me when getting to close and talking to her !
So I've been asked to come along and help the owner to get some distance from her and her overpowering pooch so that she can have a conversation without her dog pushing her around and nipping people to stay away, you this RRB clearly owns the owner and just simply making a statement not to get to close and he needs and wants all the attention especially away from the visitor but to the owner..
So let's turn it around and show some rules that the owner owns him and not the other way round!.
So why is it so important to get it right while your muscle dog of breed is a puppy with my puppy education program? Because you don't want to end up with an adult muscle dog that you can't control when seeing other dogs on a walk like the second clip you'll see.
This client has asked me to come and help her with a proper introduction between puppy and her adult muscle dog ( Staffie) to ensure that her adult dog doesn't harm or might not accept puppy and needs to know not to over hyper play to the adult dog as it can be a threat to him until he gets to know him.
Also , while I was there, the owner thought she'd invest in the puppy program with great and happy results, so now to address the little foxy x who thinks she's the queen bee trying to put everyone in there place ! Well, let's put it this way, shall we.... she ain't queen been anymore within minutes she's a the bottom of the pack now! Lol.
We need to know dog language, not human, as these dogs like many of my past clients we think they understand human language! We humans are a very difficult species because we reason and beg to differ... dogs, like most other animals, understand association, rewarding good behaviour, and challenging unwanted behaviour ( balance) not with unicorn kisses and hugs and cookies, lol. So my job is to assess what level of damage you the owner allowed him or her to get into, and then I help by providing the know-how, then knowledge, connecting , and control all in one house call.
Biggest topic of the year??.
Never Never Never pat a Dog no matter what size how cute or how small when a dog is boxed in confinement of a vehicle.
Unfortunately, this is the 3 case I've come across by an owner leaving their dog in their car with the windows down or the back tail door open to ensure their pooches get the appropriate air ventilation needed especially during summer days.
But, unfortunately some people think to seem that they know all about dogs because they may one, especially if it's the same breed or an innocent child thinking that a strange dog in a car, on the streets is the same as their family pet dog right? ..wrong! Very wrong!.
Please understand this as I've shown on this clip and risking my hand so you all understand why and how not to approach strange dogs, especially when they are in cars, tied or chained up, back of Ute's or even just on a lead with the owner.
These two clips are here to show you how to and not to approach an unknown dog or a dog that is confined into small spaces ( cars, crate, backyards, house, and so on) ,
Please... don't stick your hand in a dogs face or especially over his head because the consequences can be devastating.
I later meet the owner of that beautiful GSD, and as he mentioned to me he would never leave that tail gate open like that if he knew his dog had an ounce of aggression in him and he was so right that shepherd had bomb proof temperament and now is joining my k9 bootcamp classes, but my point is don't pat a Dog you don't know in cars because the chances are if they are bad temperament you will get bitten! And I've shown you all how to approach a dog , notice my hand how I close it when allowing the pooch to sniff me before allowing me to pat him ? In case he does take a,swipe at me, he can only scratch my back of my hand rather than grab my fingers and head shake them, then you're left, possibly with 3. Don't laugh I've seen this happen guys!.
Hope these clips and advice that are based
Our puppy education program is second to none! Why? because we know puppies and adult dogs 47 years in the making!.
Puppies need to be properly directed in their upbringing to ensure there will be no or minimal learnt bad behaviour by owners, especially new owners of puppies who's never had a dog before.
It's important to play the role of mother dog while the puppy is young to teach unexceptable behaviour and to keep them safe, rules, and boundaries.
We teach our clients many important aspects of owning a puppy, like how to crate train ( safety zone) going to toilet on que, connecting, feeding program, good toys bad toys, prevention of food poisoning, positive reinforcement luring and prevention of bad behaviour program, leash condition to walk on a lead just to name a few I do in one full lesson like this puppy, at first meeting pup he jumped up at me and really dug those sharp claws into me so could you imagine if that was a child's face?. So let's teach puppy no jumping up as first lesson by bringing kids to his attention.
Another young recruit for the April k9 bootcamp classes, see you then beautiful.

Here's another classic example when clients spend so much money finding treat driven dog trainers ( only positive trainers) that this owner has had enough of his behaviour in public because she just can't keep giving him treats to distracte his attention from other on coming dogs , bikes, scooters or people just in general as you can see.
A dog needs balanced training. Yes, I'll reward him generously if he pleases me on association of what he is learning and a no no correction if he does wrong ( balanced) training. Your pooch needs know that you can lead, provide, and protect (advocate )k9 psychology, not human reasoning and too much verbal
When you are delivering consistently treats after treats in training a dog, you are mostly giving food sent distractions, not connections from handlers. My techniques and other professional techniques are... we teach connections first, how and when to reward, how and when to correct undesirable behaviour calmly without aggression or touching, stabilise heeling first before commencing to walk dogs on a proper walking lead not a dam pulling harness that pet shops or some positive dog trainers try to sell you and convince you it will stop your dogs pulling! Rubbish! A harness will promote pulling ! It is a natural sledging device on a dog, especially a muscle dog!.
So you see,.. I'm the last resort when treat cookie trainers fail because 1.. some dogs don't like treats or toys , 2. Owners are fed up by carrying treats everywhere they go with their dogs by smelling like dog food lol, 3.. and when you have a serious dog, no amount of treats, unicorn kisses, cookies, and toys are going to break his attention when he has targeted another on coming walker with their dog, right?
So now, in just one lesson, check this once upon time that this pooch wanted to do nothing without treats and because the owners are feed up with this embarrassing behaviour in public.
Why do I teach the switch heeling position in my k9 bootcamp classes?
Like this video clip shows you incase a dog owner, especially walking with two yup yups are on your left coming towards you on a narrow walk path like this one I don't want my dog to get harassed by uncontrollable dog crossing side by side paths so I switch Aussie to the right to avoid any possible unpleasant situations like these two bullies lol. 😀
Don't judge a dog by its size or breed , dogs are dogs they all have natural drives( chase, defensive, and prey) but unfortunately we as owners don't know how to control those drives in our dogs as puppies then it becomes uncontrollable like this little beast of a dog .. thank God it wasn't a muscle dog or it would be double rates, lol.
Now, after teaching the owner how to respond to her response to the doorbell, which is the biggest trigger with all door dogs that I visit, look at the calm difference and demeana in the pooch , challenge the natural drives without aggression or redirecting with treats and you will have pooch in a calm submissive start of mind when hearing the door bell. A dog, in my strongest opinion, doesn't own your home you own your home!
Now check her out under here folks as butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, lol.

Be nice, be kind and be safe.
And my biggest tip is..... condition your dog when a pup that for every time he or she hearsca knock or the door bell reward it with a treat so this way as I use to train dogs for owners with hearing impaired that the dog will come to you to let you know in a positive way that someone is at the door !.
So, unfortunately, this girl has learned the opposite by letting her be territorial when hearing a knock or doorbell so for now, it's a no no by the owners and once she knows that then they can start to introduce a good girl or a treat , it's a balancing act lol. 😉
Meet and greet excise training programs for unsociable behaviour with other incoming dogs on leads .
So once I correct the owners' handling abilities with their dogs, then I execute the meet and greet heeling program, a word of advice... please don't try this if you're not highly experienced as things can go terribly wrong very quickly. It's about handling a muscle dog or a small dog when showing signs of hyper drivex( what we call reactive responses) where once they would lung, bark, and perform some circuses tricks lol.
Check under here for any lesson with Harley, with the greet and meet program.
This client just arrived from Sydney to live in our beautiful Gods country with her pooch.
Her dog had a two week boarding and training course in Sydney, but it's not what she really wanted ,I think owners need to understand or be explained by the trainer as I do that a 2 to 3xweek boarding and training at our facility covers 1. Basic on leash obedience ( heeling, sit, down, stay and recall) and some behavioural issues ( jumping up, barking, reactiveness) were most other training facilities will only cover basic obedience and no behaviour because either they weren't told about it by the owner or, they don't know how to deal with it or some trainers think by implementing obedience training the behaviour will go!. Nope! Please allow me to make it clear... obedience training is exactly what it is , sit, stay, and so on... but behaviour modification is a totally different training method! In my strongest professional opinion and 47 years working with dogs in all aspects... you can not train a dog at a high or strongest level if he has so much bad behaviour!... so I start first with.... eliminating the bad behaviour before I can re-educate him with good behaviour makes sense?.
So with this pooch, his problem was no control in his behaviour, and the 2 weeks course was a waste of time and money far as I'm concerned and same with the owner who agreed with me after a behaviour rectification home visit with me.
John.
Be nice, be safe and be kind.
Don't know if you all remember this client a few weeks back ( stroll down ) how she had zero control of her dog by walking backwards on her and barking at everything it sees, anf dragging her down the road right?.
Well, not know more !
The owner opped to a private 6 week course with me for the skills of handling her dog , this is only her first lesson into the 6 lessons after her behavioural home visit and look at her go!.
As mentioned below.... it's just not about training leads it's how you use them , technique, correct size, and if the lead is appropriate to the dogs temperament!.
This little fire cracker silky as you can see has a harness on which can encourage his behaviour, but also just as important does the owner know what to do when he displays this reactive behaviour? So you see, it's a combination of equipment and know what to do and how to use the equipment when needed... in this case, this little turboed pooch won't need the training equipment that I'd usually would recommend based on his behaviour, so I'll teach the owner how to use the leash and when ... now watch the huge difference at the end of the clip even with his harness on.
