𝗤) 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀? Have you witnessed an act of cruelty being committed or do you feel that an animal is being neglected? Are you concerned for the welfare of the animal? If so, please report this matter to the AWL NSW Inspectorate by calling 02 8777 4444. You can also submit a welfare concern via our online reporting form available at www.awlnsw.com.au/report-cruelty 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘦.

𝗤) 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗱𝗼? If you have found a pet that you believe to be a stray, you should check to see if it is wearing a collar and tag to try and contact the owner. If the pet does not have a tag, by law you must take the stray to your local council where the pet can be scanned for a microchip. The owner's contact details will be obtained from the NSW Companion Animals Register and the owner contacted and reunited with their pet. Councils are obliged to take in pets that are seized by members of the public.

𝗤) 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿? Foster caring involves temporarily bringing an animal into your own home to prepare them for permanent adoption. For all animals in our foster care program, we provide flea and worming treatment and we cover all vet work. Foster caring with AWL NSW is a truly rewarding experience and with so many kittens and dogs out there – becoming a foster carer really is one of the best things you can do to help. 💛Sirus is ready to meet her forever family! 🫶🏽 She has so much love to give and she will quickly become your favourite new snuggle buddy! 🥰

Sirus, is super affectionate and isn't afraid to tell you what she wants! 😅 She’s wonderful and chatty, and will want to hang out with you.

🏠 Sirus would love being in a home with a lot of life, and would suit other animals or young children. 🐶 Most of all Sirus will want to sleep in your bed every night. 💤 She loves body heat and will plonk herself on top of you, whenever she gets a chance! 🥰

Say hello to Luna. 👋 What this sweet lil’ lady lacks in size, she more than makes up for in playfulness. 😌

💜Initially Luna was a little shy but quickly she has become more and more confident. She loves a snooze in a sunny spot ☀️ 😴 and when she is comfortable, she loves to play with toys 🧸 and really comes out of her shell.

🏡 🤫 Luna would best suit a quiet house with children no younger than 10. If there’s too much noise Luna will hide. 🐈‍⬛ She would also be comfy in a house with other cats, with appropriate introductions.

She does get a little anxious when going to new places, especially indoors. She’s also hesitant about dark or narrow spaces and won’t go down any kind of alleyway. So it’s important she is with a family that will be patient and understanding.
In her home environment she is super chilled and loving! Gipsy should live with a family as the only dog. Unfortunately she has been a little bit snarly at a couple of other dogs. Most of the time she is fine, and will interact happily but occasionally a dog will trigger her.”

AWL NSW Northern Beaches Branch

Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) has volunteer-operated branches across NSW. The AWL NSW Northern Beaches volunteer branch is run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in the local area. As a new branch, we hope to offer the following services to the community:

Caring for surrendered animals

Adopting dogs, and puppies (other animals considered in future)

Subsidised Desexing Programs for financially disadvantaged people to have their animals desexed

Fundraising and events

Building relationships with local Council and community groups to assist with animal welfare issues in the region

AWL NSW has a team of Inspectors who respond to reports of cruelty or neglect to animals across NSW. As volunteers we as a branch cannot perform investigations. Suspected cases of cruelty or neglect can be reported to the Inspectors by emailing [email protected] . All reports are confidential.

AWL NSW branches are run by volunteers and are always in need of new faces. There are many opportunities available to help animals at your local branch, some of which may include:

Donations: Every branch needs donations in order to survive and continue their work with local animals. Contact your local branch to make a donation, or participate in one of their fundraising events.

Events: Branches regularly participate in events to help raise money for their cause. This may be anything from a BBQ at Bunnings to a stall at a local fair. Events are a great way to be involved with your local branch if you can’t commit to set days every week.

Fundraising: You can raise money for your local branch by initiating your own fundraising activities. Coin drives at your school and placing donation tins at your place of work are great ways you can raise money to help animals.

Foster care: Do you love animals? Why not consider being a volunteer foster carer. Carers must be members of AWL NSW, we can supply the membership form and then all you need to do is fill out foster carer forms and provide love, shelter and time to care for your foster pet until they can find their forever homes. We provides all food, bedding and accessories. We do not have an animal shelter and will operate largely using foster carers.

All our animals are vaccinated, wormed, micro-chipped and desexed prior to being sent to their new homes. Fostering is a great hands-on experience which gives you the opportunity to see first-hand the difference you’re making.

Animal transportation: Sometimes animals in branch care need to travel for appointments and their foster parents or other branch members may not be available to do it. If you have reliable transportation and would like to “help when you can” you can offer your animal transportation services to your local branch.

Admin: Like all organisations, AWL NSW Branches must complete paperwork and hold regular meetings which require minute taking. If you have admin experience you may be able to lend your skill set to your local branch.

Photography: Branches that are involved in rehoming animals always need good photography to showcase their animals in the best light. If you have a knack for photography and a love of animals your local branch may be able to utilise your skills.
