🚨URGENT: HELP US SAVE MUFFIN 🚨
2 weeks of hand rearing {on top of all of my other fosters- e.g. remember the kitties a vet wanted to euthanize....? That's been a few weeks of meds and specialist care}, plus managing rescue intakes/finding foster carers, advertising/writing profiles for our animals, adoption events & surviving school hols with two young kids... I'm currently experiencing a level of exhaustion I've never felt before.
Muffin's received emergency veterinary intervention but it's been a long day! I'm pleased to announce (touch wood) that Muffy is doing much better. I've reintroduced Muffin back with one sibling and will reunite all 3 this evening once I'm confident that we're "out of the woods".
As the rescue isn't in great financial shape, I'm fronting Muffin's vet costs.... Hard when I've been an unpaid volunteer for the last 7 years (prior to that was on a PhD scholarship). What I mean to say is, our collective family is paying for Muffin's vet costs... BUT I'm hoping we can raise enough to cover it.

Animal rescue isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It's hard... & Often leads to 💔
You may have seen our recent post for care for a few pound kitties, one in particular was a mother {& her litter} plus a prem kitten. The kitten wasn't her own, but a baby from another mother that fled the property upon the arrival of local rangers. The surrogate mother being timid herself rejected her other kittens so the little black orphan kitty didn't have much of a chance. They've stayed with mum as she cleans them from time to time (although not very often). I've hand raised this litter with my children and have done my best, but it just wasn't enough.
RIP kitty.
A massive thanks to Lucas and Josh who've helped with this baby. Lucas I appreciate you doing the 2hrly night "feeds" Christmas day to give me a break.

Between part 2 of my son's autism assessment today (part 3 to come next week), prepping for adoption events and just generally struggling to keep up with life, rescue and everything else.... I've avoided checking our bank account. More so because yesterday (in just 1 day) we received over $11, 000 in vet invoices 😫 that needed to be paid. I guess my logic was, if I don't check the account then maybe our dire financial situation won't seem as real..... Maybe it'll just go away.
Anyways, I bit the bullet today and logged in and was absolutely blown away by all the donations for the box babies! I'd like to make a special mention of the following people for their VERY large donations- Claire, Julia, Melanie. We thank you for your incredible generosity.

🚨 CUTIE ALARM 🚨
Hello 👋🏻 We are the new additions to the SAM fam. We were found by some incredible workers behind a business😳 They hadn’t seen any adult cats around and our mum never came for us so the workers sprung into action, contacted SAM and brought us in to safety.
We are thriving in foster care, eating well, moving around more and putting on weight. We need some TLC and have lots of growing to do before we go up for adoption. But life is good🥳
