Check out Horus' funky shoes! They help him to stay steady on his feet as he struggles with arthritis and is prone to injuries. You wouldn't know though, he is the happiest, most bouncy, delightful fluffy cloud! We love him so much! 🥰☁️🐾 If your pet could benefit from some cutie booties or would just like to be a fashionista like Horus, his mum has kindly shared the link with us, yay!

Caution graphic: Aural Haematoma in a dog
Caution Graphic video:
In this video you see how the blood has pooled between the cartilage and the skin of the ear on both sides creating a 'balloon' like look to the dogs ear. This is known as an aural haematoma.
An aural hematoma is a pocket of blood that forms between the cartilage and skin of the ear. Although both dogs and cats can suffer ear hematomas, the condition is much more common in dogs.
Ear hematomas can be caused by some kind of self-trauma such as when a pet aggressively scratches at the ears or shakes their head. This trauma can cause blood to leave the vessels and pool in a pocket between the skin and cartilage components that make up the outer part of the ear flap.
Dogs that suffer from skin allergies are prone to ear infections and that can cause pets to scratch and shake their head and cause aural haematomas. Other causes include ear mites or bacterial and/or yeast infections of the ear canal.
It’s undeniably crucial to treat both the ear hematoma and the underlying parasites or ear infection and address possible allergies. Aural haematomas can be removed through surgery.
Please note that this patient is under general anaesthetic and has had surgery for it. They are now set to have a full recovery.
Dr Tammie Loves to give good puppies treats! Dougal was a very good after his surgery, kept his cone on the whole time so we thought he deserved lots of treats and rewards!

🐶 Bella had a stay with us recently for an oblique fracture of her right Femur. Ouchie! 🤕
She was very well looked after though and was even hand fed her breakfast by Nurse Ellie 👩⚕️. Very much a princess we all fell for and would do absolutely anything for! 💜
See below in the comment section for some interesting before and after X-rays 🐕
Dr Darren worked his magic with some cerclage wiring to stabilise the fracture👨⚕️
We wish you a speedy recovery Princess Bella 👑
