They climbed the tree, attacked the star,
Pushed every ornament too far.
They “helped” wrap gifts with teeth and claws,
Then blamed it all on Santa Paws.
They slept all day, caused chaos at night,
Demanding snacks by fairy light.
Naughty? Yes. Regret? Not a chance.

🎁🐾 WHY PETS SHOULD NEVER BE GIVEN AS PRESENTS 🐾🎁

With birthdays, Christmas and special occasions, it can be tempting to surprise someone with a puppy or kitten — but animals are not gifts. They are a lifetime commitment.

Here’s why adopting an animal as a present isn’t a good idea 👇

🐱 Pets are a 15–20 year commitment
Cats can live up to 20 years or more. That’s years of love, care, vet bills, housing changes, lifestyle changes and responsibility — something only the adopter should choose.

🏠 Not everyone is ready
The recipient may not have permission from their landlord, the right home setup, time, finances or the emotional readiness for a pet.

❤️ Bonding matters
Choosing a pet is personal. The bond starts when someone chooses their animal — surprising them removes that important connection.

💸 Pets are expensive
Food, litter, vaccinations, desexing, flea and worming, emergency vet care and insurance all add up over a lifetime.

📦 Returns increase after holidays
Sadly, rescues see a spike in surrenders after gift-giving periods when reality sets in. Animals are left confused, stressed and heartbroken.

🐾 What to do instead
✔️ Gift a voucher for adoption
✔️ Offer to pay the adoption fee
✔️ Wrap up pet supplies
✔️ Donate to a rescue in their name
✔️ Let them choose when and who

🐱❤️ Adopt responsibly. Choose with your heart and your head.
Animals deserve forever homes — not surprise ones.
