Tomorrow is George Glenn Watterson’s 6th birthday (11th July) so after his bath he will be all dressed up in his Dockers Jumper and Dockers Scarf and his very own Happy Birthday George bandanna made especially for him years ago by Gayle Dines (an absolutely lovely lady). He wears it every birthday. Then we will go to visit the folk in the Frail Aged Lodge and local Hospital for their therapy dog visit from him. He enjoys going there and playing fetch etc with them and having lots of cuddles. Oh and not to mention there are some one-eyed Docker supporters there too. I’m taking him in his own vehicle as well, the Georgiebago.

What a happy little boy I am after my lovely walk , swim and seeing my Busselton Westie friends. I came home and while Mum washed, polished and vacuumed my car she found I had made my way upstairs to Mum and Dad’s bed and flaked I simply out. I slid down between the head of their bed and Daddy’s pillow. Im a very happy contented puppy dog but truly dog tired.

George is trying to figure out the very best spot to call his while I’m putting things in their place. His seat is where his seat belt is for travelling, then there is Dads side of the bed between pillows or Mums side also between pillows. The stickers are almost all on now and I’ve put the GORGIBAGO number plates on and will get the last sticker I had made this Friday. I had the number plates on my previous Georgiebago which I sold to my great friends Cath and Ray. I’ll still get to see it (Cath calls it get Georgette) and I’ll have a coffee in it because we go camping together quite a bit. We are all going camping this weekend actually. I will get a Westie Walker Perth sticker when I’m in Perth soon. I’ll post pics of the stickers when they are all on.

I’m having lots of fun on my holiday.

I loved this and just had to share it for others to have a laugh. Westies are well known for having “attitude “.

I cannot believe this. We went away on Thursday morning and arrived home today Tuesday afternoon to this. So guess what the VERY FIRST job was. Lock George induce and we attacked his yard and dug out all the fungi that had popped up while we were away. We have NEVER had them there before and there aren’t any outside his yard just heaps inside it. Not anymore though and believe me I’ll check it several times a day to make sure none pop up without me knowing. They are very dangerous to dogs. Poisonous!

Can you relate to this?

Yeah!!!! I got a LOVELY poo from George today. Surely this diet will help. He wasn’t great on the Sweet Potato and Pumpkin and I know they can cause itch because they are sweet and bacteria thrives on sweet things. So I’m going against what I was told and putting my own thoughts into play. I have him on Crocodile Roll and soft boiled white rice with a pro biotic and will stay on that unless He has a problem with it. I believe the Psyllium Husk caused his horrible diarrhoea this time around so I’ve taken him off that too. This is all trial and error for the Vets, us and George so I’ll just do what I think is working and keep the vets updated of course. Thank you to all of you who have cared about George and David and myself. It IS appreciated. So thank you all.

I obviously spoke too soon. I thought George was doing great, that was until today. He had diarrhoea twice and vomited twice. Damn. And I thought he was doing well, until then.
I spoke with WAVES who said to put him onto Crocodile roll and then he started going crazy at his two front paws. I had a look at them and they were so red it was like tomato skin.
So I went to the vet about 300mtrs from me and they had crocodile rolls there. Got one. But he was driven nuts with his feet so they said to come back at 6pm. A lady vet I’ve met before had a look and took a test from both feet. He has a staph Infection in them and I had taken his meds with me of course.
She went through everything and said without his notes from WAVES (which I’ll get sent to her) she can’t be certain but by all I told her about his liver results and B12 results plus what has started to reoccur regarding vomiting and diarrhoea she believes George is a hyper alergic dog and because it is affecting his liver and gut it could be more food related than plants etc. The fact he is eating but losing weight is another indication and agrees with WAVES he needs crocodile instead. She is thinking he is allergic to chicken.
Anyhow she recommended he only have the crocodile roll with soft boiled white rice, pumpkin, sweet potato and Sylium Husk. So that’s what he is on now for six months unless he has an issue with that.
She also gave him an antibiotic injection for the staph infection in his feet and a course of prednisone which I have to wean him off. She also said to use Malaseb on his feet on a plan that I’m very familiar with from several previous Westies that I have rehomed and rescued over the years.
Of course I’ve packed up all the foods and sealed the boxes ready to take home now that I’m not going to do dog training in Perth any longer like I was. I’ve given away all my cooking pots and pans too so I’ve arranged to go to my cousins home tomorrow and cook up George’s food.
My poor little dog is not his normal happy self again either. He was doing so well but it is far from good again now. Just laying about and not happy.
I’m determined to get to the bottom of his issues and then get on top of it for him.
The vet I saw this evening said he may need to stay on this diet (if it works like she hopes it will) for the rest of his life with no treats at all.
He is not to have his shark cartilage even, just deer antlers to chew on for his teeth. Drat!!!! The shark cartilage did such a great job cleaning his teeth too. All the vets were so impressed when they looked at his teeth. However it is obvious that his well being is the important thing here.
